Thanks for sharing this information! It will definitely be helpful for others on the forum. Yes, DJI Neo is light and compact, and relies heavily on its vision positioning system for stable flight, especially in environments with no or weak GPS signals. Vision positioning is highly dependent on ambient light and ground textures. In low-light conditions or areas with plain and uniform ground textures, the drone may not be able to hover stably. Therefore, we recommend that you shoot using DJI Neo in environments with ample light and distinct ground patterns. Have a great day! Thank You!

So far for many of us the NEO is useless, at least unless the bug is fixed that in some insufficient conditions NEO starts to accelerate and becomes uncontrollable. I think, we can live the fact that it needs ample light  and a certain pattern on the floor, but not with the fact that it is mostly every time going full speed into the next wall, when this conditions are not given.
BTW - DJI, how much light is ample light and when shows  a floor distinct patterns? Do you have any clear definition for that?

If it loses GPS just before sunset. Even if it's high with 21 satellites visible. It will come tumbling down due to the low light. I was flying with controller.

I flew mine near dusk one night, seemed to fly just fine until I came in for a landing.  The light was dropping pretty quickly at that point.  It really went crazy in many directions and finally bashed into a tree.  Seems the camera is very much a stabilization part of this drone.

Definitely not just a few too many buggy Neos.  Either a major design or software issue.  As I have posted in multiple other threads addressing this problem. If hardware or software and not something that can be fixed.  If possible allow us to manually engage ATTI mode in all flight modes before taking off and fly without stabilization and positioning.  Right now from what I can figure out we are limited to flying with the FPV RC3, in Manual Mode with or without ATTI engaged under "low" light conditions.

DJI, please fix this issue.  For those of us with limited Manual Mode flying skills the Neo in N and S modes is a dangerous indoors flier and limited to well lighted, no deep shadows outdoors flier.

Please fix this before I crash or have another Fly Away at a distance! Will you let us know when it is solved?  I like to fly high on a calm day to capture the sunset, even when it is still light out...

I had a similar problem before the sun set.  Lost GPS while high up.

My dji neo got crashed maybe because of the latest update. I can't control it mid air. My neo just fly in sideways.

Similar situation.  Indoors flying. Up an open staircase into a shadow at the top. Flying low (<1 meter).  Dark colored quilt draped over the sofa sitting in the loft area ~2 meters from the top step. Well lighted loft except for the shadow created by the sofa.  Image when grainy dark. Neo I think accelerated into the quilt at least once.

Flying higher (+2 meters) never into the shadow. No issue.  Learned something. Neo cannot handle the transition into a deep shadow.  Still unsure of minimum ambient light needed to fly the Neo.  I've more or less given up flying the Neo indoors.
Neo is great little outdoors flier.  S mode stabilization allow for easy flying in some wind v. a challenge with other non-dji quads of this weight.  Seems to be a good Manual mode trainer quad.  I cannot fly my 6s heavier quad in M mode with the default rates. Neo, flying M mode is possible in calm conditions.
