Hi All :-)

I have a Mavic Pro and bought me for holidays a neo. Yesterday I was on a boot trip and I start my Neo (full battery and all is green, now wind, 25°c) and I go on 10m high. Then the drone start to be instability and they flew with maximum speed backwards and was out of control. Then they fall like a stone in the ocean and is away. I have a screen record of this and I don’t know what was happened. :-(

Had someone the same issue?

Was it connected to the phone or the controller/phone, if the latter then there will be flight logs available that can be used to see what happened.

I used the controller with phone. I had no issue with signal. I can try to upload the video.

Most important, drone was updated with newest firmware version (1.00.0400)? Cuz before problem that you described was common even above ground.
And if I understand correctly, you were on boat trip and flew neo over the water? If yes, then remember that neo isn't safe to fly above water, and if you still want it to fly like that, then use your controller, turn neo on and wait for strong GPS lock (like above 14 satellites) before take off, then neo shouldn't fly away ( but no promise it won't).

I did the FW Update the day before.

When I start the drone I had 14 satellites and then when I was in the air I had 16 satellites.

I got not the idea that I can not fly over water, because with my other drone a net never a problem. But way it's not allow to fly over water with the Neo?

Dji claims that neo is strongly dependent from visual positioning. There where many people that had fly away issue above the ground (one of them was me), but after update already few people claimed that it's fixed.
I didn't test it after update, but before I managed to fly it in the night without problems.
It's like, (before update) when neo visual positioning is unavailable totally, then it switches to GPS, but if visual positioning "can see a little" then neo goes crazy.
And about over water flights, visual positioning system recognizes movement of drone and stabilize it, but when neo flies over something that doesn't have solid and stable texture then probably it's not switching to gps but goes crazy like in low light conditions.

For example if you hover neo (0,5m high) over big sheet (A3) of paper with some texture on it (like X), and you move the sheet slowly, then neo will follow it, because it's trying to maintain it's positioning above that texture.

I think that problem of fly aways it's that neo have poor visual positioning sensor, not so good gps module, and it's trying to much to relay on visual positioning system rather than switch to only gps, or full atti.
It would be great to add atti mode to neo, it would be much safer in case of troubles. Atti mode could be switched by fn button.

Today I had a similar experience on a houseboat in India.
Had the drone on follow mode to follow me around the boat. When I walked to the back of the boat. The Neo just flew past me and out into the river. By the time I got my phone into manual mode it was to late and the drone just crashed into the river. I've opened a flyaway report.
