The starboard buoy was happily flashing away,  I was lucky to catch it on.

I wanted to get closer but I had that 500+ battery installed and thought best not to risk it.

SO much activity to film down your way. Much less variety around here.

Depends,   you have the monopoly on landscapes up there.

Only the seasons change there, though
You have daily variations in local colour

After a while it gets hard to find shots on your home turf though,  and then harder still when you travel to be there at the right time.

Probably a safe choice for sure.

I found a dead deer (doe) on the backside of my property last evening. It had been shot.  Sadly, it's not deer season and when it is only bucks with antlers over 6 inches can be taken.  I think I'm going to have to start doing more surveillance flights over that part of the property.  I found lots of footprints back there and followed them for almost a half mile and then lost them at my property line.  So they crawled over a barb wire fence to get in.  I contacted Game & Wildlife and they came and picked up the deer's body and inspected it.  They used a metal detector in that area to see if they could recover a bullet but had no luck.  They did put up 5 trail cams in that area and 3 at the fence line where the hunter entered.

We were blessed to spot some deer the other day when out on a walk.  It's a shame when they are needless hunted.

I was really sad when I found the dead doe.  It couldn't have been much over a year old.  It really makes me mad because I like having them on the property and keep plenty of food out for them.  Now I have idiots taking advantage of that just to bag a deer.  The Game & Wildlife officer told me to let them handle it but I can't just sit by and watch more deer get shot on my property.  I did tell him I would not actively pursue it but if it continued I'd solve it my way.  He knows I mean it as he has seen me at the pistol range on many occasions.

Is it possible to install some sort of sensors and alarm system to notify you of movement coming onto the land.

I'm currently looking into something like that.  The company I spoke with are coming up with cost proposals.  One thing they pointed out was if I used cameras I might get a lot of false positives due to the amount of wildlife moving about.  So they are looking at trip wires, sensors, etc.  They've been out to the property twice to attempt to figure out the best system to install.  Best meaning expensive I'm assuming.

Yes,  that does sound expensive doesn't it.   Not sure how you'd could get around the false positives either although some PIR sensors used in house alarms can ignore dogs/cats so there might be something suitable out there.

A workaround the false positives would be fantastic.  They are going to give me 3 proposals and list the cost and any Pros and Cons of each.

Im home and onto the chores usually by the time it's risen,    the priority is the 10k steps at the moment.   Although the sun has come out now and I just took the Avata out for a few flights and managed to find a dead cow,    tried to flag down the ranger to report it and he just drove off so Ive emailed in the location and some pictures.

Its a little device I used to make that you plug into a usb port,  and every few minutes it moves the mouse pointer a few pixels left and then back to the right,   it means that software like instant messaging never flags you as away or idle.

A long time ago I worked for IBM and we had to book our time in 15 minute chunks to each of the projects we were working on,   I cant express how miserable that was.

It was pretty miserable for some one thats a bit OCD about things like that,    others that smoked or had long lunches from time time just made it up without any remorse.

Oh yes,    there was one new hire on one team that was reminded that he shouldn't do any work unless there was a ticket for it,  so for anyone walk ups he asked them to raise a ticket,   at the end of the month,  the management took him to one side and complained he had closed 5x the amount of tickets as the rest of the whole team.    Luckily I wasn't involved with that team too much,  too mush inter personal squabbling for my taste.
