Quick and dirty of it - can Osmo pocket 3 connected to two DJI Mic 2's record video, and have two separate audio tracks embedded into the video file from each mic????? or can this feature be added?

I have DJI Osmo Pocket 3 creator combo with DJI mic 2. I just Bought another DJI Mic 2.

Main use for the two mics is when doing a travel video or something like that to have good audio for each person and have built in mic audio for ambient audio.

What I liked so far using included DJI mic 2 – the built mic is good in non-windy conditions for ambience, and DJI Mic 2 is just a good mic with the “dead cat” attachment.

For now, when recording a video with one DJI Mic 2 connected, the embedded audio track in the video was from the Mic 2 in Mono, just divided between R / L channels equally, and when I wanted/needed I added the built-in mic audio. Everything was correct length and didn’t have to do any syncing or nothing like that, just adjust the levels or each track.

I’ve bought second Mic 2 so that if I’m filming two people, each can have a mic, for example me and my S.O.

I started testing two DJI mic 2’s connected to the camera and I’ve encountered some problems:
  • -          The recorded video file doesn’t have two separate audio tracks for each mic, but combines them into one track.
  • -          Changing mic settings to ‘Mono’ puts that one audio track in the left channel.
  • -          Changing mic settings to ‘Stereo’ does what it was meant to – recording each mic in its own channel, but still in one audio track.
So, there is no way to adjust each mic level separate from each other…

Actually, there is.

I could delete embedded audio track, and use the Mic 2’s built in storage recording which is mono just divided between R / L channel (just like it was when using one DJI mic 2). The problem with that is it’s not synced/correct length as the video file.

So, for each video clip I have to delete original audio track, connect each Mic 2 to my pc, import both audio tracks, sync both of them, cut them to correct length, then add the built-in mic audio track and then set the levels for each track?

Maybe I’m missing something – some setting or some step in my workflow and somebody can help out with this?

So the problem was, when recording audio with two mics in 'Mono' mode, Osmo pocket 3 would combine both mic audio tracks and there wouldn't be an option to change volume for each mic separate.

I just went outside to breathe some air and thought of a solution.

First off, when two DJI mic 2's are connected to the Osmo pocket 3, you should record audio in 'Stereo'. This "Makes" Pocket 3 to record both tracks and embed both tracks in the audio track. In the Davinci this can be seen by left clicking the video file -> clip attributes -> audio -> source channel.

After that you need to add a mono track and change the first (original) track to mono as well so that the video now has two 'mono' audio tracks and change audio channel 1 and 2 for the tracks and that's it.

The best part is you can do this on how many clips at a time you want. In media pool just sort files by <type>, choose all the video files and do this on all of them.

Even if in the middle of the media pool there's a file where no mic (so built in audio) or one mic was used this "adding one more audio track to video file" will only split existing audio into two mono audios (essentially just cutting volume a bit).
