I was just checking  out the news and it appears we are also getting our first bad winter storm.

A chilling Arctic blast is set to sweep across the US today, with forecasters warning of 'record-breaking' cold weather to follow. The Northern Plains residents will be the first to experience the sub-zero Fahrenheit temperatures this week.

However, these freezing conditions are expected to spread into Central, Southern, and Eastern parts of the country during the first half of January, according to AccuWeather. Experts suggest that at the 'pit' of the cold plunge, temperatures could fall 'far below the historic averages' for some states, potentially leading to 'damaging and disruptive' conditions for millions of Americans.

Homeowners in the affected states have been warned they may face higher heating costs when the 'Arctic Express' kicks in. Travellers are also being advised to make contingency plans in case their journeys are disrupted by the icy conditions.

I hope it holds true.  Still they are predicting locals temps to be down in the 7C range for a few days around 9-10 JAN.  For this location that will feel like freezing cold.  Dang, I might even have to dig out some pants or a long sleeve shirt.  

Oh Boy.  thats worse than it is here currently.  Although flying the avata was no joke in it earlier.

Hmn.  The possibility exists, I suspect. Don't sodium and/or phosphorous burn violently in contact with water. (Schoolboy chemistry lessons)
And, are you old enough to remember Calcium Carbide bicycle lamps?
Drip some water in and burn the resulting acetylene gas to light the lamp.

I caught the tail end of a news article about New Years fireworks that were silent. Um wasn't scaring off 'bad spirits' part of the purpose of fireworks ?

She offered to help out with finishing the tiling by doing the grout whilst I cleaned the inside of the car (a mess of her making too) and this morning it's apparent she used the wrong colour.
