Interesting to watch how you do that, I won't try it for first fly for sure but it will be helpful some day! Better be careful with this though, thanks DarthSLR.
Definitely not on a first fly, and would not try it for real for the first time.
Before I even made that video I practised a few times on a soft grassy loan, where the worst damage would be a broken blade.
However, as I have mentioned, the whole thing came out of necessity. Where I (intend to) use it, it's rarely an even clean spot to land. Sandy beach, rocky and steep mountain slopes, dusty desert - all beautiful and waiting to be flown over, but not offering much of the good landing place. And if any hiking is involved (which often is), carrying the launch pad simply becomes an extra weight/space liability, even if it's not that big/heavy.
So, as I said, it's a pure necessity for me, and I am glad I got comfortable with this technique, so I could use it last night. |
