Interesting question, I was wondering the same. Here in Australia they have been planting trees from the air for years, but they use a much more sophisticated tree parcel. It is a tapered projectile made from a biodegradable material that is quite sharp at the pointy end and supports the seedling very well. The are dropped from the air by conventional aircraft, but unlike seeds, these are juvenile trees, encased in nutrients and watered. They drive into the ground on impact so the tree is effectively 'planted'. |
