Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. Once the application process has been launched later this year, existing users of the Mavic 3 series can request the C1 label on a voluntary basis - easily and at no cost. The process will require them to provide their drone serial number and confirmation - via screenshots - that they have the updated firmware needed to obtain C1 certification. More details will be announced at the time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
I heard (on a YouTube posting) that we will, maybe, still not be able to fly in an A1 zone even with the C1 classification until Jan 2024, is this a misunderstanding by the YouTuber?
I hope DJI do what they promised very soon and give Mavic 3 buyers retrospective C1 status. I'm concerned that now that the Classic is officially C1, it might not be as important for DJI to re-qualify the previously sold Mavic 3. I only bought the Mavic 3 a few weeks ago because I trust what DJI said about the C1. I hope that wasn't a mistake. Q4 has been going on for a while and the turn of the year is already near.
