Osmo Action 4 Video quality is awful

My new action 4 arrived at the weekend and have been looking forward to using it after switching over from a gopro, it pains me to say this but that excitement quickly went away when realising the picture quality was awful!

Is there possibly a fault with these cameras? 1080P on my phone is almost twice as crisp as 4k 120 on this camera.

Thought it may be an issue on my laptop so edited a video and uploaded to youtube... its even worse, used parts of a video for tiktok and again terrible.

Factory reset and still terrible.

Please let this just be a faulty camera and not something to expect from DJI.

Hi Stevie, after check the videos with our engineer, the quality showing is normal.
We also appreciate for your feedback. Some manufacturers currently optimize their AI algorithm and adjust imaging colors to improve the image quality of photos captured by their mobile phones. As such, some photos captured by some mobile phones are better than those captured by DJI Osmo Action Series products.

Compared with mobile phones, the DJI Osmo Action Series products are mainly applicable for scenarios to free up your hands, such as cycling, diving, surfing, etc. In addition, the RockSteady stabilization technology of DJI Osmo Action Series products comes with an intelligent anti-shake algorithm, which can check camera vibration in each direction and effectively offset it. Compared to mobile phones, the view remains steady scenarios where there may be bumping or rotating.

Cellphone video picture quality is far better than DJI Osmo Action 4.
