Hi there! I've recently picked up the Action 4 and was also excited to try out the 1-Click AI edit feature in the Lightcut app. However, I came across the same issue as everyone here: I would connect my device to the Lightcut app, but all of the footage would show up blank (no previews whatsoever), and even if I tried to select a few and click the AI edit button the app would just crash with a "failed to import videos" error message. Super frustrating!
[MY TEMPORARY FIX]
You kind of have to toggle your cellular data ON and OFF during the process. Here's how I would do it: Open the Lightcut app > connect to device > then, turn cellular data OFF > Click "One-Tap Edit" and when you view your devices content they might now appear as you'd expect, with thumbnails and previews > select the ones you want > click "Continue". HERE is where you may have to turn cellular back on, as, in my case, the app needed network for AI to find a template and analyze the footage. So I turned cellular network back on, and kept it on for the rest of the process. However, I'd say if you find yourself stuck on one step (maybe the app fails to load past one step), it may help to turn off cellular and try it again. You'll pretty much have to play around with this. Not ideal at all, but doing this helped me successfully use the app to make one video. So, to summarize: keep cellular data OFF during any media selection process (this is the only time you'll absolutely need to have cellular data off); once you move past the media selection stage, toggle Cellular data back on to let the app's AI feature do it's work. If you get stuck in the middle of a step, try turning cellular data off and trying it that way; if it still fails, turn it back on and try again; rinse, repeat.
Q: How did I even know to mess with Cellular Data in the first place?
A: I searched everywhere for others having this same issue, and no one had any sort of fix. Seems like the app works fine for 95% of the users. But, I did find a video by @AirPhotography on YouTube where he quickly mentions that cell data bug in a Lightcut video. He doesn't go into much detail about it, but even just mentioning it was enough to get me to try it. Hope it helps! If it does, let me know!
As for DJI SUPPORT: Please look into this. One-Tap Edit is such a great feature, especially for trips when we don't want to spend hours editing a quick recap to show our family, or spend hours exporting footage to our phones as a workaround (defeating the value proposition of One-Tap Edit). Help us affected users be able to fix this, please and thank you! |
