Um yes you absolutely can and many do.

If you are talking about jail-breaking that is something different, but without that you really can't do it.

Easy on Android, you can just distribute the APK if you want, but not Apple.

No I am not talking about jail breaking. How on earth do you think enterprises, corps, and government agencies install proprietary apps to all their employees? You think they publish them to the apple store? Of course not that's beyond idiotic. You can easily install apps outside the apple store on non-jail broken apple devices. I've done it myself many many times as have millions of others.

I said to the public...

The Enterprise schemes are limited to distribution to employees and contractors.

The Testflight approach is limited to testing.

There really is no route available for a company like DJI to distribute an app to customers outside the app store, nor for that matter is there any real need either.

Apple are currently taking no more than a couple of days or so to approve apps, it is not like it used to be where you could wait a week or more for approval.

Just cancelled by Phantom 4 Pro order directly with DJI as I saw that my local DJI dealer (Advexure.com) here in LA has Phantom 4 Pro units arriving in on Monday.

They've also got a nice 5% off promotion for Black Friday that lasts through midnight pacific time I'm told.

No they are not limited to employees and contractors. Its limited by whoever writes the app to whoever they want to release it to be it employees, contractors, the public etc. You are obviously absolutely clueless as to how the process works and what is possible with it. Its not only very possible but very easy to do if they were so inclined and im pretty sure DJI has even given out the links to it to several people who proved they had P4P's in hand.

I also cancelled through dji after I ordered through aerial media pros. I got confirmation through email my order will ship out to me Monday. 3-5 days after I'll be flying high! If the apps updated of course

This is drifting off topic for this thread and indeed one of us may well be 'clueless' but I suspect as a registered Apple Developer, it probably isn't me

I imagine that DJI are simply using TestFlight for anyone that got the P4P early and needs an iOS build. It is trivial to do that these days and much easier than abusing the Enterprise distribution model.

Either way this all becomes irrelevant once the app is released, which should be quite soon now...

Question regarding RTH altitude.

Situation: You're at the top of a, say, 300' hill where the drone's RTH location is established, your drone's RTH altitude is set for 200', and you fly it to the bottom of the valley where it loses RC contact.

Question #1: Does the RTH altitude setting relate to height above ground level where it loses contact, or does it relate to its RTH location, meaning that it would climb to 200' above the top of the hill (500' above the bottom of the valley)?

Question #2: If it relates to height above ground level where it loses contact, then what will it do when it gets to the 200' level on the side of the 300' tall hill?

Question #3: Conversely, although there would theoretically be no danger of trouble as in the above hypothetical, if the situation were reversed and you were flying the drone from the bottom of the valley to the top of the hill, would it rise to 200' above the top of the hill, and when it reaches the RTH location, would it be flying 500' above the ground before it begins to land?

Question #4: How does terrain follow relate to these situations?  In the original example above, would follow terrain keep the drone 200' above the rising side of the hill as it is returning home?  And, it is my understanding the terrain follow does not work in reverse, that it does not follow the terrain when going down a slope.

Yes it has terrain, but only uphill like the Mavic.
