Meters are things the people who do not live in Trump-controlled-territory use to measure distance.
To be honest, there are a few other odd countries who measure with feet, yards, or other strange things. I mean: 1 mile is a strange amount of feet or an weird amount of yards. While working with meters it's simply going up or down in steps of 10 to reach other larger or smaller units like centimeters (cent=100, thus 100 centimeters is 1 meter), or kilometers (kilo=1000, thus 1000 meter is 1 kilometer). I find that easier to remember than the random amounts of 5280 feet in a mile, or 1760 yards. Which I both had to Google because, seriously, who does remember that? And where does it come from?
Then again, I'm born and raised in a country that uses the metric system instead of yards, feet, or miles. So that's why meters makes more sense to me.
Yeah, but then what do you do your fractions in? Huh, answer me that if you can! HA!
Johnny walked 1/2 the way to school, but Bobby had to walk 7/16th of the way. How much further did Bobby walk if the school is 5 km from Johnny's and 9/32nd further then Bobby's house?
