It looks like DJI is up to a new trick...

They have remove the chance to download the App DJI Fly by using a computer as you can see from the picture...

djidownload.jpg

But something else is also now missing, from the Android version... You cannot longer download or access older version either...

Anybody here know the reason for this change?

Great question Burt.  I noticed that earlier when I went to download the Mimo app and saw it was no longer downloadable via PC.

Will be interesting to see what DJI's cryptic answer will be for this change.

It was actually Sean that did asked the question to Tony here:

https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=redirect&goto=findpost&ptid=310542&pid=3432531

The answer was:

"Hello, you can use your mobile phone to scan the QR code to download the APP"

While that's true, it begs the question of why?

What about if I have a plan for my phone that doesn't include lots of data and I want to use my home network (that does use a different simcard) with my computer to download it?

I honestly don't think this is an improvement... Unless there is an hidden agenda behind...

Nota big deal as there are still places where to download current and previous version of DJI Fly... But was this move really necessary...

Perhaps is time for DJI to join the rest and allow the DJI Fly app to be available on Google Play. We have all seen what happen the last time the DJI Fly stopped working on Android...

Why DJI you alwys go one step forward and two backwards???

Good thing that I just update the lot last month, other than the RC that still has August version of the DJI Fly..

As long DJI don't force me to update, and the drone fly without problems, that can play with their policy and website as much as they want...

It's difficult to understand their logic at times.

It's difficult to understand their logic at times.

Somehow I can't help it, but to think that it is all about control and nothing more...

It would be a very sad story, if DJI ended up going down hill, not because of their products but simply because of their continuous poor public relation's skills... I have seen this before back in the old days..

JR was another great company, but they took a wrong turn with their policy and never regain from that turn... Somebody bought the company for a song few years after and still use their name, but the products are not the same anymore...

It definitely would...

I can see the design developer and engineers working very hard to make better and better products...

Then the software team comes in and makes a mess of the first few firmware releases...

Eventually the public relation team (you know,"the relevant team" when someone complains here) gets involved and really start to p1ss the customers off...

The poor admins in the forum are stuck in the middle of this, under the control of the "Relevant team"

One thing is for sure... It is an entertaining affair...

This is the last reply to Sean from DJI Tony:

Hello, DJI APP needs to be downloaded to the mobile phone and connected to the drone; the computer only supports downloading DJI Assistant 2. For details, you can refer to the article on our official website. Thank you for your understanding.
https://support.dji.com/help/con ... p;re=GB&lang=en

This is actually all wrong as I did download the DJI Fly today with my phone and it was not connected to any of my radio or drones.. It is just a single file and it went in my download folder...

My computer support downloading of virtually anything online as long a link or a button (to call a function) for me to click on, is provided..

There are no details of the reason for the omission of the direct download for the PC in the link article provided...

I'm afraid there is no much to understand about this reply...

I think what I'm saying is that we have an irreverent relevant team that's irrelevant to our relevance...

That's enough for today...

Thank you, but this is not related to the question...

The question is: why the option of the download of the DJI Fli app via computer was removed?

We know how to use the app and the Assistant 2, but that is not the issue...

If it is too much to ask or there is an issue to reply to the actual question, I would understand...

So, now I have to download the APKs on my phone/tablet and copy them back to my computer for storage.
Inconvenient, but do-able as long as we aren't forced to install rather than just download.

That's correct...

By removing the direct download for PC, they answer a question that nobody asked...

Now we need to wait and find out the real reason for the change....
