Hi there folks. Video for DJI. Aggressive increase and decrease in brightness. There is no processing in the video. Only LUT from the official website. In the beginning, the footage was shot on ACTION 5, the last part of the video is an example of Pocket 3. In Pocket 3, there are no jumps in brightness, when they happen, it happens smoothly. Action 5 in normal 10-bit mode, the jumps are not so aggressive, but they are still present. Especially large jumps in brightness in D-LOG M, in auto and with a fixed shutter speed. There are no jumps in brightness only with a fixed shutter speed and fixed ISO - but it is impossible to shoot like that! Please do something about this. On Pocket 3, this is very well implemented.
Thank you for your feedback. In HLG 10bit color mode, the brightness value is fixed at 100% and cannot be adjusted. We will forward this issue to our engineers to consider improving the prompt display logic in future updates. Thank you for your understanding and support.
At exactly what parts of the video, are you seeing a jump. the Pocket 3 does not have a Color sensor and is there anything blocking it, I placed my hand over the color sensor on a whole vlog and noticed no changes with my shooing. just asking

Brightness jumps on all videos. Stable brightness only on Pocket 3 and on the fragment where shutter speed is fixed + ISO is fixed. In Normal 10 bit brightness jumps not so clearly, but still jumps. Isn't it visible on the video? Especially visible in the third video
As DJI didn't already fix this long term issue i start asking myself if the Action 5 has some severe hardware issues. It's not possible that we spend time here in the forum for something that nearly every other action/non-action camera handles flawlessly.
Just to say, in some clips i need to use the Resolve color balancer to keep brightness constant. But it's now always possible (not always you have a uniform sky to use for brightness reference). And anyway this shouldn't be needed.

I completely agree! It's strange to me, Pocket 3 has a very good brightness change, I expected the same result from Action 5. The result disappointed me. I wonder if Action 4 has the same problems? It's a pity that I don't have the opportunity to test Action 4.

Action 4 doesn't have this issue. Or better... if it has the issue it's not so evident and it's below what is felt as "normal". Maybe it's the adaption time that is too fast i don't know how to measure the level of this disturbing behaviour.
This really upsets me ((( I find it hard to believe that the brightness problem can't be solved. Aliasing. Moire. This is a bigger problem. Uncontrolled ripples are a bigger problem. And brightness is a small thing!!!

Looks like DJI released OA1 instead of OA5. You can't do that. These are childish problems, this is not the first camera DJI has released to the market. Sad(((

possible that DJI action camera can only do so much, that expect way more out of it. Get Hope DJI does more then just hear the complaint but isolate the issue over time and before they let go the camera for the newer model in 05

They need to somehow sell the OA5 before the new OA6 camera comes out. I think it's in DJI's best interest to fix the camera.
DJI is always improving. with their cameras and totally agree, to fix issues is to share issues and DJI releases like any other company a new model as their fix

I don't use HLG, I bought OA5 for D-LOG M. Waiting for a new update with the hope that the situation will change.

Hi Supsss3,
Thank you for your update. We understand your needs. As mentioned earlier, we have forwarded this issue to our engineers. Please stay tuned for any updates on our official DJI website. Thank you for your understanding and support.
