The main difference between jail and prison is the length of time a person is held there. Jails are short-term facilities, while prisons are longer-term facilities. Jail is a short-term facility for people awaiting trial, sentencing, or serving a sentence of less than one year. Jails are operated by the local law enforcement agency. Prisons are run by the state or federal government
Ah. So we only have Prisons here, and depending on the risk of the person attending will go to a different category, but assuming they were remanded awaiting trial that would still be the same facility. |
