Maybe a bit of an alternative view among all the negative comments we've seen since yesterday.

I've owned many DJI drones, but right now only have the Avata 2 and the Neo since I love flying FPV. But being a hobbyist photographer I have also been missing chances to take aerial photos during my trips. My last camera drone was the Mavic 2 Pro and I ended up not taking it with me most of the time due to its size & weight that'd require a separate shoulder bag.

Compared to the Mini 4 Pro which I was considering purchasing lately, the Flip has a couple of major disadvantages:
- Worse wind resistance
- A bit noisier
- Fewer advanced tracking modes
- Does not work with googles (DJI, please consider adding support for it in future firmware updates)

All in all, it is a less capable camera platform and is nowhere near as versatile as even the Neo.

However, in exchange we have a drone that is:
- Fast to deploy and put away
- Small overall footprint: although it is bigger than the M4P when folded, I won't absolutely need to bring a controller with me, so it just needs more space than the Neo but won't need its own bag

- Safer around people: the M4P's obstacle avoidance system can fail and damage is much more likely if it does fail

- Fantastic camera like the M4P

Considering all the above points, I'd be much more likely to take the Flip with me not just during photography trips, but also when out with the family. I do take the Neo with me almost everywhere, but it has a ton of software limitations and am actually considering selling it. Neo's video quality is only passable without stabilisation, but we can only disable it when flown with the Googles 3.

I've only bought the standard combo (drone + RC-N2) as I anticipate that 25 mins would be plenty to take photos and quick selfies videos of. For serious flights I will still use the Avata 2.

I'd bought the Fly More Combo right after it was launched but after knowing that it doesn't support FPV mode, I cancelled the order. So DJI still lost me a bigger sale over the lack of this feature.

Congratulations on the purchase! I was about to do the same but lack of goggles support stopped me and for now I'll be with Avata 2 and 7" Long range Chimera 7 pro v2 (soon with O4 )

Thanks Natalia,

I'm still holding out hopes that a future update for the Flip will bring googles' compatibility, as even though it won't be a true FPV experience, it'd still allow for more exciting footage. The Mini 4 Pro is arguably a less suitable platform for FPV mode, yet it does have this feature.

Apart from that, resigning myself to the fact that the Flip right now is just a safer & more convenient camera drone was enough to justify the purchase for me .

Thanks Alex,

The O4 is definitely on my list . I have a Pavo20 Pro with O3 and would love to replace it with the O4 Lite and move the O3 elsewhere. A 20 grams weight reduction should make it even snappier.

I also realised that the Flip having the same camera as the M4P, is only 24mm equivalent, compared to the Avata 2/O3/O4's 12mm lens or the Neo's 14mm lens. The much reduced FOV would make FPV footage less exciting.

Still would love to have the option though!.

Perhaps I should remove this thread, as I'm going to return the Flip (still sealed box, unopened) and will get the Mini 4 Pro instead today (lightly used one at a fairly good price).

The inability to adjust camera settings when flown even with the phone is truly a deal breaker for me. If I have to use the controller to do so then a M4P is a much better choice in the same weight class.

There are loads of disadvantages compared to the M4P such as noise, wind resistance, etc. that have been already covered extensively. The cheaper price alone couldn't make up for these downsides.
