Im working for a surveying company. I was hired for their new Drone surveying program they just started up. My experiance had been up to that point had been a total of sixty hrs inspecting roofs, home real estate sales and a few cell towers inspections working with my Autel EVO 2 pro.
Now im working with a Matrice 350 RTK and find it amazing. Im about 10 missions in with some sites cooking points with ground control to NY state plane. Im been working with NYneT and Keynet for RTK. Our work load is heavy as in addition off me flying missions, im also in the field working and learning a Trimble T6 robotic station.
We occasionlly work with Aerotos for our larger surveying mission ( several acre topos) to relieve workload for our draft operators who ues Autocad and other programs.
My question is.......How do i properlly gauge the area i am surveying for proper paramerters i program in the DJI controller. Im the only drone operator with this company and have really no one to get suggestions of advice from.
I generlly program the missions the same, as follows:
DJI Lumuse L2 LiDAR mapping.
Pemta Return, 240HZ for sampling rate and non-repetive for scanning mode.
Altitude is set at AGL with DSM file downloaded with Google Earth KML file downloaded to controller.
Terrian follow is generally set at 100-200 feet depending in high high obstacles in survey area. That changes the ortho GSD depending on altitude i adjust in controller and always ortho Collection and never oblique collection.
IMU calibration is always on and speed i keep at factory setting at about 33 MPH with course angle at 0, is this too fast.
Side overlap at 68 and front overlap at 70 with photo mode at time interval.
So as i mentioned, i program this the same al the time. However i dont think right all the time. Let it be noted, that i dont see very much on the back end, as i upload the missions and its out of my hands for the most part. I have seen a differance with the single photos taken with LIDAR/Photogrammetry mission but lose clarity after the mosiac of surveyed area is completed. WHY, is that something i can fix in the field.
Any tips or advice would be grealy apprecieted.
