I have this hugely expensive iPhone attached to either controller (Flip works with either the N2 /N3).

Phone holds gigabytes of map data... but I can't find a way to use the offline mapping feature.  [ And no, I do not have, nor want to use my limited cell data with a hot spot! ]

Any ideas?  Seems that I'll not be able to fly anywhere remote and have a current map 'in site.'

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out! Unfortunately, iOS devices do not currently support offline maps. Please connect to the internet to pre-load the map before taking off.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Please indulge me... list the steps I need to follow to "pre-load the map"...    : -)

Are there any settings that need to be optimized in order for this to happen?  I'm completely unfamiliar with this process/location/etc.

thanks

Hello WebParrot. Thank you for reaching out to us. Please be informed that iOS device does not support offline map currently. Please connect to internet to pre-load the map before taking off. Kindly you may follow the steps provided as per below. For the App before V1.9.0, it only caches map in built-in Fly app when the internet is available.

1. Ensure there is a network available for the DJI fly app.
2. Open the DJI Fly app, there is a map on the bottom left corner of the camera view.
3. Click that map and you will enter the map.
4. Wait for the map loading, or drag the map to the aim location and zoom it to load the map details.
5. The map will be loaded in a few seconds.
6. Then you can disconnect the Wifi or network to view the map and fly the drone without internet connection.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for choosing DJI.

Just curious...  where is the cached map data stored?  For example, as part of the Fly App but on the phone, or on the aircrafts' internal memory, or SD card, or some memory location on the N2/N3 ?

And, how long is the cache retained?  Is the Cache size adjustable for this kind of map cacheing?

Sorry to keep bugging the issue...

Hi there, we are sorry to inform you that it is not possible to delete the online cached map in the DJI Fly app alone. To delete the cached data of a loaded map in the DJI Fly app, please refer to the methods below based on different models.
1. Android systems: We recommend that the customer go to the mobile phone’s “Settings” - “Apps” - “DJI Fly” - “Storage”, and then clear the app data or uninstall and reinstall the app.
2. iOS systems: We recommend that the customer uninstall and then reinstall the DJI Fly app to clear the data.
Before uninstalling, please check whether it is necessary to back up photos/videos, flight records, etc. Thank you for your understanding.
