I was gifted a pair of Goggles 2 to go with my Mini 3 Pro and finally got a chance recently to fly. Upon powering up with the goggles, I received a 'Remote ID' error. After a successful albeit short flight, I later engaged in a chat with DJI tech support who told me it is because my goggles do not have built in GPS capability; I didn't press further. I am flying my Mini with the standard battery so I'm operating below the weight threshold [I thought]. So why would I need GPS in the goggles?
I'm not having this issue when flying with the DJI RC, so why am I getting the error with the goggles? I essentially swapped out the RC controller for a pair of goggles and a motion controller paired with the same drone. Why the difference? The GPS is within the drone, why would I need to hook up my phone (as a GPS source) to fly? I'm a bit confused.
