No need to get close to the ground at all. The only consideration is that the wind is faster the higher up you fly so flying into a moderate breeze at 300' for example will slow you down but equally turning 180 and having the wind carry the drone at that altitude will max out the speed.

In near windless conditions you will reach around 60MPH with a pitch angle around 30-40 degrees. You can adjust the pitch angle in flight too which is another nice feature rarely seen on FPV drones. You should only fly at those speeds close to the ground when you have nailed the basics of learning everything as the risk of crashing is massively increased.

Thanks so much, the 40 degree angle in manual did the trick! Took her to up to around 100ft and got around 62 MPH so happy with that!

Yes,  it was just because I had the attitude limit turned on in the expo and rates section,   with that off you can pitch the drone more to achieve the speed,   Ive now hit 71+mph.      Dont do that low at first BTW.

Yeah thank you, AJ advised me to change gimble to 40 degrees and that did the trick! Hit 62MPH so pleased with that!!

TBH - I've hardly used a sim - just a few hours in currykitten using a dualsense controller lol. I learnt from watching that tutorial and just flying in full manual trying to replicate it. It's worked so far for me with only one minor crash in over 50 flights though everyone is different. Some have spent 100hours in a sim and still can't even take off without crashing.

I use all modes for my shots, sometimes it’s nice just to cruise around with the MC, then I used the RC3 for shots like orbiting etc and I can’t figure out how to do that with the MC. Then in full manual modes I can get jiggy with it, and although I ain’t an expert by any means, I can dive, flip and do rolls etc but I still have a long way to go…..

Looking back my altitude was over 100' when I hit 70.5MPH

https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=313321

Wow that’s super fast!!
For most of my shots, using the MC or RC3 with normal/sport mode will suffice. But sometimes it’s nice to know I can bump my speed up if needed and pull off more advanced manoeuvres etc if it’s called for, so will keep practising in manual and continue to improve. Thank you again!

It is for a cine whoop but it's never a sustainable speed - be happy with 50-60mph most of the time now you've cracked it.

There are very few 'experts' in this field mate - we're all learning.

Ok wonder if it’s because i was in the store app?? I just got my drone to add another dimension to my filmmaking, but never thought I would enjoy as much as I am. I didn’t think I would ever go manual as there is no need for me to do so, but I am 53 years old and wanted to challenge myself. Years of playing 3rd/1st person shooters has paid off and mode 3 is very similar to how I play these games with a gamepad

I am guessing they meant change the angle of gimble like I was advised.

Gimbal angle didnt have any effect for me,  just the attitude limit was holding mine back.

I have only just started learning to fly in manual so its prob because I am not a very good pilot . I had gimble at 15 degrees but was only getting around 35-38mph but AJ said adjust my gimble to 40 degrees and I punched the throttle to full, nose down and was getting around 62-65mph.
I wont be going that fast at low level, no need for what I need, but just wanted to see what the Avata 2 could do. I have learnt to do flips, rolls, dives, Spilt S etc just because I think learning the advanced stuff will hopefully improve my basic techniques. I use my Avata 2 for shooting mainly cinematic footage and rehearsal video.

At least by adjusting the gimbal like that you can see where you are going.

This is a good explanation to camera tilt angles in FPV

Nice! Just watched your video. Looks very similar location to where I practise which is a 5 min walk from my house to some massive open fields and countryside.

Best places to fly as less people around.

My avata 2 seems much slower than my DJI FPV drone which has surprised (and disappointed) me. I’ve gone into sport mode and edited the top speeds to the highest options but the fastest I’ve been able to go so far is 34mph. What’s going on? Using the MC3 as I can’t find an FPV RC3 anywhere yet.

The pitch angle is restricted in sport mode so using the MC3 36mph is the limit. To hit over 75MPH you will need to fly in full manual mode with the FPV RC3.

Sports mode is limited to about 35mph,    you need to fly full manual to go any faster.

Had my camera at Max tilt and I was at about 62 miles an hour.    Can’t wait for someone to figure out a motor upgrade because it’s definitely underpowered    I know what it’s built for, but I guess I should say it’s underpowered for me

Ive managed to hit 74mph with mine,   and others have hit 80.
