Yeah, that sounds kind.

I bought him a beer afterwards and he told me about life on touring and entering pistol matches on behalf of the manufacturer.  More of a demanding lifestyle than i'd like to do.  The pressure is always on him to be the best.  My pressure is simply motivation to be good so I can dial it back as needed.

I'll be happy if I ever reach the status of "accomplished" drummer.  So much to learn, especially with all the different genres.

I did crack my first cymbal.  Guess I was playing a rock song and put too much power into the stick.  Lesson learned to not do that again.

It surprised me as Zildjian cymbals are well made and highly rated.  I showed it to the percussion specialist at the local music store and he said that he had only seen a Zildjian cymbal crack like that twice before in the last 10 years.  He had me leave it with him and he is going to try to get a warranty replacement.  In the meantime he "loaned" me a used cymbal so I can keep practicing.

My instructor has a "practice" drum set that he uses for students and he has Sabian cymbals on it but he recommended the Zildjian cymbals as a really good set for personal use.

Yes, I'd forgot about all the lines within each of the brands.  So many it tends to make my head spin.  

I'm looking at replacing my drumheads before too much longer but I'm hung up between Remo and Evans brand.  I'm not in a rush so I'm going to do some more due diligence before I make the buy.

Exactly.  They don't make it easy to figure out which one you really want or need.  So right now I'm just going to go by word of mouth.

I talked to the Church's Music Director and he said the heads they have on are 2 years old but it only gets played on Wednesday evenings and twice on Sundays so they are still in fairly good shape.

Yeah, that should be good for some years for sure. Unless they really abuse them (which is rare in most churches)

He doesn't seem like the type of guy that would let the band members be rough on any of the band instruments.
