Same deal as above, with the upgrade to 1.9.1.30 being the most problema ...

I have the same exact issue. I downgraded the AC back to 1.8 and both RCs to 1.6 and it's back to normal. Even the Pull Focus works with the old firmware. I guess we have to wait for a firmware "fix" before upgrading again.

Ive updated via the app it started to do it biz then just sat here for over 3 hours one solid blue light and the rest white !!! now its about to run out of battery and what do I do ??? I don't want to turn it off as it may brick it and is there a reset ??? ive spent 1800 updating x5 plus a zoom lens and now this happens   ////// not happy please help

Is the indicator cyan or aqua or deep blue?If it is cyan or aqua, you can follow this instruction to force RC to update
* Turn on the controller, and the aircraft should be off.
* Press C1, C2, record and the wheel on the right side of the controller and then turn off the controller.
* Don’t let go of any fingers, and turn on the controller. Then the controller will be able to update again.

Hi there peeps this is my first time posting on here so be nice to me. I have a little problem with my inspire ever since I did the new update on my radio I seem to lose my gps signal on the inspire even tho my controller says I am connected to 19 satellites and it seems to drop in and out of gps and the inspire is only 30m in the air has anyone else had this problem my inspire is only 3 months old please can someone help I'm from the uk in Nottingham

Hello Knowles, the GPS signal has nothing to do with RC firmware update. Do you mean the image signal? Also, you can try to downgrade the RC firmware by this way:
From the main home page, if you press the graduation hat (upper right corner) and press it for 5-10 seconds then let go, it will take you into the downgrade menu (aircraft OFF while dong this)

The problem seems to be with the RC slave. The master RC upgrades great, but the slave does not. Had DJI on the phone for an hour and still couldn't get it done. They wanted me to re link the slave to the aircraft to try and get the upgrade, that's where I stopped. It's crazy, they have a problem with 1.7.4 upgrade and need to correct it ASAP.

Rich , I noticed on mine that in Auto mode I see the Red lines on all the ( I have the Hack "Update " )  additional channels , but as soon as I go to custom mode it goes back to normal  and I fly on channel 27.

i just updated yesterday because I purchased a X5 camera .

I have a real simple way to update your slave RC to 1.7.  Just follow my link to "Bricked RC "  I know yours is not bricked but just load my C1 _1.7 RC transmitter file to a thumb drive and follow  my instructions

This file I have here is only for RC transmitters and works great.  

Make sure the thumb drive is wiped clean and formatted and the RC transmitter is off when loading the thumb drive, then just turn it on.

What do you mean it drops in and out of GPS ?  Are you loosing RC signal or Video ?  When you loose the GPS is the Aircraft returning to the Home point ?

Thanks for your tips and I have noticed the same thing in manual mode. were you getting some drops on the video downlink too?
Congratulations on getting the X5 camera my friend. I have decided to wait for awhile and maybe get the Z3.... once all this gets sorted out.

I think that DJI has to do something about what everyone is reporting for both the RC and Video signals... they have changed for the bad since the FW update

Have done extensive testing and these are my findings:
Started with A/C fw 1.09.01.30. RC fw 1.7.40 Go App 2.8.7

I had the following happening:
RC signal warnings all the time.
Red bars in HD settings
Random movements of booth Focus and Zoom dials in manual adjustment of zoom lens on X5
First off like to say that Rich you where right in your thinking, it is A/C firmware related.

What I did:
Started to downgrade my GoApp to 2.8.3 (no Change)

Next downgraded A/C fw to 1.8.1.00
(RC signal back to normal, no erratic warnings but red bars and bad zoom control of X5)

Next downgraded RC fw to 1.6.
(Red bars in HD settings disappeared, but this might only be a visual effect and have no impact on performance, Zoom control still bad)

Lastly upgraded back to Go App 2.8.7
(No changes)

My conclusion is that something else, maybe camera fw is causing the erratic zoom control?
Bad / constant signal issues are due to A/C firmware.

Nice work cougar,

wow that's a lot of research!  If I were to guess, it may have something to do with the last FW for the camera in 1.8...  I certainly hope that DJI will provide us with some answers and hope for the new FW release by DJI R&D.

Thanks for your hard work and I am considering downgrading as you have to get my reliability back on the Inspire 1

I just updated , so i will see if I get any unusual messages.  So far I dig the X5, there is a lot to digest but I will get there, I got a good deal , I could not pass it up.  The resolution to the home screen is I would say at least 25% better than the X3.  BUT, you loose flight time and speed.  

I will let everyone know my thoughts in a future update.

Sorry for the inconvenience, Rich. This issue has been reported and our developers are working on it. Currently it doesn't hurt to downgrade the RC to 1.6 version firmware.

Agreed! I am looking for the video drop issue also. I just downgraded the RC / AC and will try it tomorrow if I can. Yes. I see the HD looks like it was before and everything was solid again for the short time I had it going in the house.

Tilt/pan shortcut no longer works for my C2. Is this normal? When the RC was at 1.6, tilt/pan worked flawless. Why was it removed in 1.7?

This is very annoying - I used to be able to do a pan and quickly reset the gimbal to look straight ahead...

Make sure  the entire system is fired up and then look again, you may need to scroll on the box menu to get to that feature.  I just updated yesterday so I know it works.1.7 RC  and 1.9  AC

Ah thanks! I found it. DJI fixed this issue thankfully. The previous version didn't show the tilt/pan option. Now I'm happy

just to follow up after downgrading to RC 1.6 and AC to 1.8:
Okay, I flew 2 flights (TB47 13 min each) today and everything worked fine. about 87-90* the video was solid! I still see some unstable lines in the HD but not maxed out. I flew with video HD in Auto mode and Manual mode... no real difference that I could tell.   It was 100*F today but did not fly during the hottest time of the day.

I look forward to the DJI R&D team's solution based on all of our combined tests cougar 1 and others it would appear the camera FW is buggy. I also hope that they fix the RC / HD video signal issues too it would be nice to see this reliable again!

Thanks for your feedback. I'll report your findings to our developer team. Also during my flight in summer, when my 5s became hot, I also saw some green lines and live feed became lagging . Device temperature  matters.

paladin, I have been doing some experiments with this issue and cougar1 has been also doing some great testing as well.  The current firmware does not allow a good video signal or operation in the hot weather.  80*F seems to be about the limit but the RC and Video HD signals are not reliable (bug in camera FW? or something else?)

So, I have the RC at FW 1.6 the AC at 1.8 and the Go app at 2,87  (same as cougar1)

I have flown 4 flights varying temps.  ((iPad mini 4 128 gig memory nothing else running in the background))
80*
87-90*
93*

1) 13min flight no issues at 80*F
2) after 10 min of flight video drops started at 87-90*F the last 3-4 minutes the video was frozen or not useable
3)  14 min flight and the video was great until about 11 minutes today at 90-93*F
4) Flight #2 today same issue (after I let everything cool down for 15 minutes in the shade  14min flight with video freezing at the last 3-4 minutes

I believe that the camera FW has some bugs and the DJI Go App is putting to much strain on the CPU to be stable in hot (warm weather)  

Please have DJI R&D review the GO App to reduce the workload on the CPU. The iPad is really not strong enough to run the increasing demands the app has been updated with or become (bloated). I like the concept of one App does it all, but I think we are seeing the limits of the IPad capabilities to be reliable in conditions that should work. Please note that I used to run the Shou screen recording app at the same time as the Go App without any issues at all. Now it will not run anything else at the same time.

I updated my inspire 1 today to the latest firmware and now my controller wont sync up with drone,, it has lost the Wi-Fi info..name and password....and maybe some frequency info....and when I try to reset wifi with the red button nothing happens....any ideas as my drone is now grounded as my second remote bricked during last updates and now my main remote is not syncing up...

Did some additional testing today to find out how the iPad Mini 4 holds up when putting additional load on it.

A/C Firmware 18.1.00,  Inspire 1 Pro with X5 Camera
GoApp 2.8.7
R/C Firmware 1.6
iPad Mini 4 64 GB Cellular but using Hotspot via WIFI from iPhone during test. So wifi was active during entire test.
Temperature; 25C but high humidity.
Used Shou screen recorder to record entire time.

Test A:

  • Shou recorder set at 480P
  • Video Cache on (recording)
  • Took photos/recorded video

Test B:

  • Shou recorder set at 480P
  • Video Cache off
  • Took photos/recorded video

Test C:

  • Shou recorder set at 720P
  • Video Cache on
  • Took photos/ recorded video
Test D:

  • Shou recorder set at 720P
  • Video Cache off
  • Took photos/ recorded video.

Test result: Did not see any problems with the iPad even using wifi, Recording Screen with Shou @720P, Video Cache on as well as doing video with the X5,  all at the same time.

Might be more of a firmware issue then iPad Mini overload, have to add that temperature was not as high as our fellow flyers down south have to deal with, the added heat will surely add to any issue.

EDIT: Another factor that should be considered, non of my testing sessions exeeded 10 minutes since I am running the X5 (battery capacity)

you can reset the RC of any presets, such as being a Slave RC by using the following button combination:

* Turn on the controller, and the aircraft should be off.
* Press C1, C2, and shutter on the controller then turn the controller off.
* Turn on both the aircraft and the controller and link the remote.

cougar, I think your information is was nicely done. I do not see the issue on my iPad mini 4 cellular version at lower temperatures. I think the extra loading really shows up when the outside temp is higher and the flight time is longer. Since I do not own the X5 camera I am pleased you were able to do these additional tests.

I am gun shy to run Shou and the Go App together right now

just did that reset..made a lot of noise and beeped very quickly at the end...but still no syncing...both me remotes say disconnected ...not no signal....don't know what to do anymore..guess I get to call support

Since the rc update i experienced several  problems:
De slave remote sometimes lost connection, de record button on the screen does not working, I Lose video signal now and then.
Today i'll decided to go back to previous version of RC and the Firmware from the Inspire pro. Everything is working fine again.
I'll hope you can fix the problems in the newer versions.

I inspire a 1 version 1
since I updated the remote controller to version 7.1.40 the drone will not start.
I did various tests run all commands except for the ignition of the engines through the sticks ... how do I restore the previous version of the Remote Control?
