I've flown with the controller and launched from the ground no problem. When I try to launch from my hand I just get the double flashing red front lights indicating error. Could this be because I have long hair and a large beard?? Preventing the craft from a proper scan? I'm going to have my buddy try later today to see if it works for him (no beard or long hair)

Did you tap the on/off button twice?

I don't think it has anything to do with your hair and beard but its possible? definitely a good idea to get your buddy to try just in case though. i hope it works for you.

maybe try tying your hair and beard tighter to your head? maybe it only scans for 3D which long hair and beard would look flat instead of the shape of a face to a 3D sensor!

I'm going to see if it works for my buddy in a little while. If so I'll try the different hair styles for Spark's liking lol

According to a thread on here your lucky that didn't trim your beard for you.

Yes turned on and tapped twice after startup

Try shaving the beard and get short back and side,lol, are you tapping the button same way as when you start.

I really don't think it's the beard, he may not have gestures turned on.

How do you turn on gestures? I thought you just turn on the drone. Wait for it to blink yellow on the back lights then press the power button twice?

holy crap. sorry guys. I did not know that you have to enable gesture mode in the app. I looked through the manual that came with the Spark but did not see that until I downloaded the digital manual from DJI. Sorry again! its now working!!

According to the manual, you need to shave and pull your hair all the way. I hope you received a U$ 10 gift certificate to use on the nearest barber shop, mine came along with the 16G SSD card. Of course you can use SPARK to cut your beard , reason the single unit didn't came by default with "guards". Very good thinking DJY !!

Kdog420000, I'm glad your issue has been solved. Please do remember turn on ''Enable Advanced Gesture Control'' under Visual Navigation Settings firstly. And it's recommended not to wear dark clothes or clothes may absorb infrared light.

glad you got it working. i should receive mine on Monday so ill see if mine works then

I had the same issue. Enabled in the app and it still didn't work. Tried double tapping the power button a little quicker and that worked.

One issue i had is i noticed on the video from DJI that the guy holds the spark with his fingers, when i was holding it sitting on my palm when i tapped two times the power button the red front LEDs would blink but nothing would happen, how i got it to work is i held it with my finger so it didn't rest on my palm, after that it takes off every time.
