I have been very fortunate with mine so far, although I never fly mine with my cell phone.
Another reason is I am an older guy, 63 and retired and my grand pop eyes needs something bigger. Also, to accommodate my large bumbling fingers......lol
For the Spark, I use an Asus Zenpad - Z8 with dual wifi capabilities. Picked it up on Amazon on Black Friday for $119.00. It is dedicated totally for the Spark basically and works great. Even on a bad cloudy day, I can get close to 1000m before getting signal messages. This is when the Spark is around 125 ft. If I increase the altitude to around 250 ft., the message usually disappears and I can go a bit farther.
I am also using those inexpensive parabolic range extenders. But, with those, you basically have to have your controller antennas aimed in the direction of the Spark for optimal performance.
Not a big problem though, just something you have to keep in the back of your mind.
Also, when flying with this stuff, I do not have my cell phone near me. I kind of get paranoid that if I do, and a call comes in or some type of notice pops up, it might interfere with the controller. Not sure if it will but do it as a precaution.
I hope you get your issues resolved because this baby bird is so cool and functional. |
