Hi,
I have some questions about the included charger.

When I charge the spark it is getting really hot on the upper surface. The battery stays cool.
So is this normal? I am not talking about a little warm, I am talking about hot to the touch.

And another question about the Voltage.
Why is the spark charged with 12V over USB? I can also charge it with 5V, so where is the advantage for the 12V?
The charger is rated with 5V 3A  / 9V 2A / 12V 1.5A.
For what?

Maybe someone can say something about the temperature and voltage?

Thank you

You will find the USB is 5V/3A. If it was putting out 12v anything you tried to plug in to it would probably be fried. The 9V and 12V are most likely for the battery charger, switching between 9v and 12v depending on the load. 9V/2A for charging 1-2 batteries at the same time and 12V/1.5A for 3.

No, I checked the Voltage and Ampere. The single battery in the spark is charged with 12V and 1,56A with the included stock charger.
Looks like dji is using some kind of "quick charge" technology. Boosting up the Voltage to get a higher current thru the cables.

I will also take a look at my Spark's temperature with my FLIR camera when it's running, it seems to run hot. There is the charging docking station if you ordered the Fly More option. keep Spark from unnecessity heat.

I also noted that it charges the spark at 12v. Interesting... Must switch to 12v when in charging mode through USB. I think that is part of the QC3 quick charge capability...

Some quick chargers on phones use higher voltage (I think DASH on the OnePlus does this).

12V charging makes sense, since the battery is 3S, which is roughly 12V. Charging at 5V would take much longer (and if you charge from a 5V-USB power source, it will take 90 mins)

So it could be a QuickCharge method dji is using.
Maybe some details about ist @dji ?

But what is about the temperature?
How hot gets your spark during charging with the stock USB charger?

DJI Natalia :

The power bank supporting QC 3.0 can be used for QuickCharge, while with the normal power bank, it will be charged under 5V/2A.

Okay, so the spark uses QC3, nice!

What's your spark temperature while charging? I am a little concerned about it.
