I have taken a few panorama pictures which look great but when downloading the images from the spark the panorama pictures are in folders with 9 photos in each.

I understand this but how can I get a high res panorama off the spark ? The dji app makes the complete picture but can you download the high res version of the photo at all ?

I don't believe you can; I've only been able to download either the lower resolution panorama from within the app whilst connected, or alternatively taken the 9 images from the SD and stitched them in Lightroom.  Not ideal, but the end result at least is impressive.

I tried the photomerge option in PS but results were dissapointing, seems the software has problems with the sequence of the photos, haven't figured out yet what the sequence should be, maybe somone here knows the answer?

You have to download to editor in the DJI GO app and then you can download from the app to the phone,

Might I recommend microsoft ICE Software? I use it with my mavic/litchi combo. Couldn't be easier. Quality might not be up to par, but now body has mentioned it yet.  Fwiw it's the only stitcher I've tested.

For horizontal panoramas, I rename the files using a batch file containing the following:

ren dji_0004.jpg 1.jpg
ren dji_0003.jpg 2.jpg
ren dji_0009.jpg 3.jpg
ren dji_0005.jpg 4.jpg
ren dji_0001.jpg 5.jpg
ren dji_0008.jpg 6.jpg
ren dji_0006.jpg 7.jpg
ren dji_0002.jpg 8.jpg
ren dji_0007.jpg 9.jpg

I have had success using Photoshop Automate/Photomerge (spherical) and Microsoft ICE 2.0 - All automatic.

Great results here with Panorama Studio 3 Pro.

I would say Hugin. It's free & fairly easy.
