Depends on what computer you're running.   For PCs Premiere is a good choice, but for Mac FCP-X.  

FCPX far better on Mac in terms of speed than Premiere Pro. However think about capturing in LOG and applying LUTs for best video output.

Cant you still use the LOG and LUTs with FCPX?  I think I am just misreading what you are saying but wanted to confirm.

Will Premiere Pro CS5.5 work well or do I need a newer version on Windows?

Yes you can, but you need third party software to make them work.

Any version will work, it's more about the grunt of the computer as to whether you will have real time playback or need to transcode first.

What are the best setting for exporting from premier pro for uploading to Facebook or utube

Thank you Jim for the reply.  Can you give me a little more information on what you mean to "transcode first."  We do basic videos and I've used some older programs before but not Premiere.  I loaded a short video into my computer (Dell Laptop M4800 i7 2.4GHz 16GB RAM Win 7 Pro) and it won't playback smoothly.  If you could help me maybe via direct email instead of on here let me know and I'll give you my email address.

Im using premiere CC and I need to know what sequence preset to use?  I have never edited video before so please understand.

If you drop the video into the timeline it will set the sequence to the video format automatically.
