According to the mounting bracket product information it is required for P4 series controllers amongst others. Page 5 of the monitor manual also shows the bracket being mounted to the monitor.
So I think the answer to your question is no, unfortunately it looks like a hidden expense when purchasing Crystalsky. Perhaps a couple of rubber bands might do the trick

I think the problem is the battery - sticking out at the back. otherwise surely it would be find in the existing holder.

Good point, so a 3D printed spacer to fit round the battery, flush top and bottom with unit. Clamped in existing holder, and rubber bands to hold all together (or some method)
