Do I have to do the link/pairing procedure each time between the RC and the Spark?? I've had to link it every time so far, even though the manual says they are linked from the factory.

yes you do

No.  The only time i've had to link the RC with the Spark is when I fly the Spark without the RC.  I've gone hours/days between RC flights and never had to link the RC with the Spark.

You seem to have gotten lucky because most reports on this forum including my own experience is that you must relink every time you reboot the machine.

Not here, never had to link the RC to the drone, apart from when I unlinked it to fly it phone only mode. Re linked after and it has stayed linked.

When you power on it can take 20 or 30 seconds to connect to the remote, are you giving it long enough to connect?

when I called DJI they told me you have to relink after turning it off

Are you sure that you asked the right question to DJI?  I've never had to re-link my RC

yea so I'm having the issue  if I even able to  pair my RC and I fly it to the point where its time change batteries I will not be able to use the controller again it does I called and they said yes I have to do it every time I turn it off

I would probably try talking to them (DJI) because you should NOT have to pair the RC to the Spark each time you fly.

I just found out even tho it doesn't pair i see the GPS location for it

Never had to relink before each use. I turn the remote on then the spark. The sparks flashes yellow at start up till it self links. If you are having to rebind each use make sure to turn the RC on first then the drone, if it continues contact support for a possible replacement.

they want to try to fix it first they won't send me a new one.

So first they (DJI) tell you that its normal to relink each time and now they say it's an issue...omg.

How long does it take to link?  Mine is 25-30 sec.  Seems long.

Ive never had to relink my remote, unless i delink it from the remote controller.
