I love my P2V+. The only thing that bothers me is the video connection range. I often lose connection when I venture out to the 700-1000 feet range. Are there any inexpensive mods that could increase the range. I already have the FPV booster app. Is there any type of hardware modification that can be easily installed that doesnt cost a fortune?

There are a ton of youtube videos showing how to add RP-SMA cables to your controller and will allow you to put different antennas on.
Modding your controller will void your warranty and is frowned upon by some.I have mine modded with boosters and can get 2 miles but that cost $$$

I too had this issue.  700 FEET and I was losing signal.  I assume that is because I am in a city around a lot of home wifi's etc.  I updated to a complete kit "Stage 2" upgrade from FPVLR.com.  It was about $170 and easy to install.  I get about 2,000 feet before losing control signal now.

I found that FPVLR.com antennas worked the best and I use the LHCP Phantom V2 Kit X3 boosted from there.

Wow that's impressive. I'm getting better at pointing the wifi unit at the phantom as it flies out of sight. Today I fllew in my town home neighborhood that has a ton of wireless wifi networks and tall trees. At one point I had an unobstructed view between my phantom and I at about 1400 feet and it didn't drop video connection. I'm now realizing that many of my shorter video drops are probably due to tall trees in the area interfering with the wi fi repeater. I'm getting better at moving around and trying to keep an unobstructed view between the phantom and I. This weekend I plan on flying in a wide open field and will test the control range and video to see what type of max range I can get.

Remember it's the top flat part of the RE that holds the aerials so you need to keep that pointed at the quad, also I find holding the RC away from my body helps and having the RC aeriel at 45 degree angle helps control range.
Heres a video I did

Side question - how do your record your phone screen?  And is the RE700 standard on the P2V+?

There are many apps you can use to record your phone screen. And yes, the RE700 come with the Phantom 2 Vision Plus and uses a 2.4Ghz signal.
I use Vision+ Utility Pro app to receive the flight data only and overlay the video with Dashware.

Thanks.  Recording the phone screen each flight could be used as evidence in the event of a flyaway of a never-to-be-seen-again phantom then. Useful!  I'll get myself one of those apps.

I've not tested just how far I can fly my phantom yet, still plucking up courage.  I might have to bite the bullet soon
Edit.  seems like you have to have a rooted phone to use any of the screen recorders

I use Mobizen.  It is for Android and you do NOT need to root your phone.  I do not know if there is an iPhone version.

Thanks, mobizen was the 1st one I tried, just got a "device not supported" message.

I have a Sony Xperia z2.

I tried a few other apps, they all said my phone needed to be rooted.

I'll try shou next

Shou should work. You can record or broadcast your screen. It works with my LG G3 not rooted.

Shou doesnt work on un-rooted Android 4.X, only on 5.X

ah well, it was a good idea at the time.
