Hi ,

This might sound like a silly question but how do you cache maps for when you are out and about ? and is there any other info I need to know for using them ? I have an Ipad air 2 with wifi only

Thanks Peter

Do this in advance, while connected to WiFi:

Bring up the map in the Pilot app of the area where you want to fly. Zoom as far into that area of the map as you want to have available to you while flying. Caching happens automatically.

That's all you need to do. When you arrive at your flight area you'll find it all just works.

No need to save (there's no option to do so, anyway). It saves (caches) itself automatically.

is the cache "permanent". That is, if I go back next year will it still be available?

Yep. Only deinstalling/installing DJI Pilot will clear the cache.

Errrrr no... That's not strictly true.
You are limited by the amount of memory your device has
You are limited by the amount of memory the app allocates to cache
If you clear app data the maps will be erased.

Maybe you're talking about Android, but under iOS (he Talks about iPad) you can't clear the app data unless the app itself has this option (at least, I can't find that option).
And of course you are limited by the amount of memory your device has, but this is logical and applies to any app, device and any system on this planet.
So let's stop being "Kluscheißer"

I have an Android and have found myself tethering to my cell phone to get service and get a map update. Although the GPS and flight path still work beautifully I find it uneasy to fly on a blank screen with a bunch of lines.  lol.

You guys stop being propknockers! Don't worry your wee little heads, select cache maps in background, use your Iphone or suitable knock off to link to Ipad or suitable knockoff. Get map, airplane mode both devices and go friken fly its that simple. Oh, one more thing ... turn off gps and fly like a man!
