I have tried and iPad Air an iPad Pro 9.7 and an iPhone 6s with different cables and have had no luck.
When you first plug in the iPad or the iPhone to the remote and you look at the top right-hand corner at the charge indicator it seems like it's going to charge but then it disappears,it stops charging
To be able to charge The iPad or the iPhone with an external USB battery and still be plugged into the remote would be wonderful
Trust me I've tried every combination of different cables and adapters to try to get this to work still nothing
How are you guys getting this to work even if it only charges a small amount
What versions of iPhones or iPads are you guys using and are you sure you're getting a charge indicator in the right-hand corner top corner when it's plugged into the Remote
Where in the iOS? I've got 2 P4Ps right here in front of me, both with iPad Mini 2's, all same firmwares and one is charging the iPad Mini and the other is not. Swapping cables, which are the same, does not change the outcome.

You are better off bringing it to a full charge with it's own charger
You missed the point.
I once did an 8 hour continuous flying with my P4Pv2 with 5 batteries and a 3-parallel-battery-charger while mapping a 900 hectare farm with 6000+ images.
I had to reduce iPad brightness to barely distinguishable levels and charge it while moving to between takeoff locations.
The problem is rapid chargers use signaling on data pair to negotiate charging speed.
