Is there a method to downgrade the controller?  Its not recognizing the downgrade version and I think may have something to do with my front collision avoidance cameras not being recognized.

Try downgrading to 1.6.0 with DJI Go app

It is a Windows problem. Restart the PC by pressing the Shift key, a restart option will appear, option 7 (boot without drivers) you give Ok and then launch the Assistant and recognize your P4

Assistant sees my p4 but it doesnt see my controller and now my wifes pc is updating so I cant do a damn till its done. WHY NOW!

DJI assistant 2 doesnt recognize either one of my controllers. Clearly im doing something wrong. How do you hook the controller to the pc for update?

You have to press for few seconds on DJI Go App horizontal bars to access the menu.

Hi. Right actions but wrong reason. The Assistant 2 installation incorporates an unsigned driver - why this still isn't fixed, is anyone's guess. Windows by default will refuse to install an unsigned driver, so you need to install it with driver signature enforcement turned off. Process is in last post here: http://forum.dji.com/forum.php?m ... D407%26typeid%3D407

So, no - it's not a windows problem. It's DJI wrapping a Vision USB driver into their installation which doesn't pass a reasonable Windows safety check.

RC 1.8.0 never been good. Before updating my P4 with the buggy firmware, I stayed on RC 1.6.0.

Thats what I have

Finally figured out downgrading RC to 1.6.0, rest P4 to factory, reinstalled downgraded firmware, deleted and reinstall GO4.  Still no collision avoidance.  any other ideas?  Not the end of the world but it would be nice if it was working.

By the way I cannot say thank you enough to everyone helping out here, a really great group.

You better do it fast because DJI is having all these previous firmware versions removed all over the internet. They do not want you downgrading under any circumstances.

They can't do squat. Their very flight software that runs the Phantom is in severe violation of the GPL as it is, they need to sort that out before they can try claiming IP rights on firmware files.....

Ok. You are right, it is not WIN10 problem, the problem is the unsigned USB driver, I express wrong.
I got the connection as indicated above, not ideal, but I got the connection.

I shut off the driver signing buts still not showing up. It shows up in my connected devises but assistant 2 isnt seeing it.

Have you tried re-flashing back to the latest buggy firmware to see if your collision avoidance returns.
You can then roll back again to see if it still doesn't work with the older firmware. I have not yet upgraded my P4 to the new version due to all the negative feedback but if I get chance tomorrow I will run the DUMldore software to make a backup of my firmware and compare it to the file I downloaded off here.

Thank you very much!
I will flash it on my drone, test it and give feedback.
Please cud you check one more thing: then you connect you drone to assistant2 (last version) and start calibrate VPS cameras, - calibrate is success? (do you see that small cameras working?)

Hi, Icer. After the downgrade your VPS is OK?
Are there warnings?
I've experienced erros in my P4 2 months later.
Sent the drone to the reseller to solve the problem.

I tried to backup the rc firmware as well but the app didnt see it. It could be that ive never used assistant to update my controller. I did use assistant 2 to update my old MC so the drivers were definitly installed for that. If anybody needs it ill see if I can make it work.

Hi,
This utility not have possibility to read flash from P4 RC. It works only with mavic RC.
But you always can downgrade RC controller with GO4 by holding right up corner button for some time.
Do not try get flash from your P4 RC.

Hi,
Like other peoples says, VPS cameras not working, but all other functions is back and works well.
If I need to choice flight with my P4 without VPS or see how expensive coffee table I have with VPS, then I chose first option. I am sure that VPS will be also fixed very soon.
Anyway, you have always option to go back to last buggy firmware 02.00.0106 by using your backup or asisstant2 and VPS will works again.

Hi,
Yes! exactly! Please, make your firmware backup by using tool that i link before (https://mega.nz/#!nJcAUICR!3OWhm3sX34zBXPwM9T64cGImzpovIqo_6In3VnHXu5M).
Download tool and extract it in some folder. Then connect your P4 to PC. Start file "DUMLdore.exe" . Then select "aircraft" and press button "backup firmware". Backup is very fast 1-2 min.

Hi Icer
I have a copy of firmware V01.02.0503 using the tool as a backup. This firmware enables the use of head tracking with the Avegant Glyphs.

Can I ask a dumb question?  (From a software engineer.)  How can downgrading to your previous firmware disable the VPS?  I mean by downgrading the firmware you should have restored the aircraft to its previous state more or less.  It should have no way of knowing that the VPS "should be" disabled, even if it wanted to do so intentionally.  There must be other data files in the internal memory which are causing this.

Nothing yet PB. I (and many others) were told it should be waiting for us in Assistant 2, but nada.

Just as a side note to those taking matters into their own hands and flashing their birds to roll back to previous firmware - I appreciate your reasons for doing so. I am reading your posts with interest and I think you've successfully highlighted the reason that DJI needs to act quickly. If this carries on I may have no choice but to follow suit. But do you think maybe you could start a separate thread for this process?

At the moment, this thread contains the closest thing we have to a response from DJI and as a lot of people here aren't comfortable with the notion of an unapproved process, it would be good if we could keep the channel clear for a direct fix from the powers that be.

Cheers,
SED
