Aardvark, thanks for the help.  Turns out the light on my remote control was not red....it was actually a pink/purple color.  I tried the solution you provided multiple times, but that did not fix the problem.  I eventually found a post where someone mentioned holding down C1, C2 and the SHUTTER button (not the record button).  While holding all three buttons down, turn off power to the remote control.  Then, while still holding all three buttons, turn on the remote control again.  This solved the problem for me.  I was able to connect to the aircraft as expected.  Once that worked, I was able to upgrade the aircraft to the latest BETA firmware.  Did a 15 minute test flight, including using tripod mode.  No issues with stability.  No issues with camera recording at 4K.  No gimbal issues.  At least for me, DJI is finally getting close to a useable fix!

That's good to hear all is working. Yes, that was the hardware re-link I'd sent you. I had thought about the reset, but with latest build I think it had changed and I couldn't get reset to work here (purely out of curiosity). I'll update my 'RC reset' notes with your fix. Thanks for the update :-)

Good news from DJI. I applied for flight instructions to test the .0600 beta in order to send the flight logs to the DJI support team and Aurora answered this to me:

If the Beta has been set for your account the you will see it in DJI Assistant 2 with aircraft connected to PC and powered up.

I hope a new non BETA Firmware will be released soon. My P4 has the instability and IMU issues and not being able to use this expensive equipment is unacceptable.

I only found this thread a few days ago. I am so glad to know there is something in work to fix my P4 by DJI.
Like many others my P4 was worthless due to the 106 firmware. To keep flying for my business I was forced to use other means to keep going.
Hopefully the release of official firmawre will fully address some of the lingering issues and bring my P4 back to the perfect machine it was before the 106 release.
Anyone know exactly how this went so bad to begin with?

The phenomenon is normal, because there are disturbance such as wind.
P4 flies slower when obstacle avoiding is enable.

Today tested the new beta FW 0.600. DJI seems to be on the right track. While hovering there is still a slight shake which still needs to be turned off.Return Home is now quiet without strange engine sounds. The landing is still a bit bumpy, but about 2m above the ground quieter! .Sport mode, the P4 is now slower !! Max 46Km / h, why? This was previously a maximum of 79.8Km / h !! I put the files into my Dropbox and send them DJI Susan as PM.

Has the drone been crashed before? Does the IMU error disappear after a certain time? Be more specific of your main issue and the troubleshooting you have tried, I'd like to help you.

Just realized I have the option to Restore Factory defaults on DJI Assistant.  Does this take me back to original Firmware?  Will it solve wobbly flight problems?  Thanks for any input.

I flew P4 with the .600 firmware update and I have to say it's much better, but I haven't flown more than 200 feet away from HP. I was able to put it up to 400 vertical feet without running into "weak transmission signal" but I did notice that upon descent, it's incredibly wobbly. It's close. I have to fly far out to see how that goes.

Restore to factory default will restore all parameters to factory status, but the firmware can not be changed.
