So I just got my brand new phantom 4 pro 10 days ago... as I was out Shooting a wedding at a country club, right towards the end of my flight when I was  about 50 m from the craft,  The aircraft disconnects and reconnects and says there is magnetic interference,  and gimbal overload. It literally starts to go haywire and jerk in every direction.  It was basically 90% out of my control, And was moving on it's own.  I am an experienced inspire pilot,  this is my first Phantom,  but I would consider myself a very good pilot.  It was flying so out of the control of that I was for somebody's life. I was able to somehow get it hovering above my car,  so I could grab it (  there was literally no way to land it)   I grabbed it and it sliced my arm open in multiple spots. I was able to turn off the battery.... it happened earlier today at around 1 PM.....

While hand catching is often practised by flyers, DJI specifically advise you not to do it, for the very reason you discovered. And if you do, then there is a 'recommended' method for doing it that minimises the risk.

If the machine was out of control to begin with you should have never even got close to it let alone try to grab it by hand.  I thought I seen a a DJI video on the spark with a hand tak off, there going to be plenty of lawyers looking at at that video..

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, fly safe..

Sounds like a situation for a CSC.

Could you post the logs for the flight?  Someone may be able to help determine what happened.

I imagine you'd want to get to the bottom of this mystery to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Go to http://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/
Follow the instructions to upload your flight record.
Come back and post a link to the report it provides and someone here might be able to analyse it and give you an understanding of the cause of the incident.

I still want to see the minor abrasion, called mutilation.

Got 'bitten' by my Mavic (due to my fault) in the weekend, although it is a little more forgiving.

Seems likely that you took off from on top of a lump of metal or reinforced concrete causing compass problems, above the car you were back over a lump of metal so it was OK...

Never grab a quadcopter, it is always going to fight you and they are a lot stronger than most people expect.   To hand catch you need to gently support the aircraft so that you take it's weight instead of it supporting itself while you allow it to maintain the horizontal and vertical position and attitude that it wants, and then once the motors are doing no work it can turn it's motors off or you can turn the motors off with the CSC.

RHP does get me laughing with that statement.

I posted a pic of a guy who sliced his nose open in four places.

The Spark is advertised with hand launching as well as hand landing being primary features. I want to get my wife one but I can't get my head around the potential one will go haywire and slice through her fingers.

Presumably the very small propellers are light enough that they don't store enough kinetic energy to cause serious damage to fingers?

They do seem to spin rather fast, but they probably weigh less than 3 grams each so as long as they are not too sharp there should be no problem...

I can't say how bad the injury was but one guy on Youtube already posted that he cut his finger with the Spark. Obviously, the cut wasn't bad enough to keep him from continuing to fly though (if the video segments are in the order they were shot).

Sounds a little like what happened to me trying to fly in a KP index of 6.
Once you can get it as close to the ground as possible in a safe area, kill the motors, not yourself.
Props are cheaper than stitches.

I never got a paper cut, from paper airplanes...
But I never tried to hand catch one either... Haha
