Greetings, I have recently purchased my very own DJI Spark and have some questions concerning the FAA regulations.
I've been reading differents sites that have stated the Spark is required to be registered and others that state is does not.

About myself: I'm using the drone as a hobbyist, and for my own personal film making. I'll be traveling to Europe this summer and was wondering what were the FAA regulations for my Spark in America as well as Europe, and whether registration will be required of me.

You should register it, it does no harm, regarding flying in Europe you will have to check individual countries to check out their rules and regs.

The courts recently ruled that FAA has no power to require registration. As the Spark is quite new, I guess they have not bothered to add it to the list.

Here in the UK there are no requirements to register our SUSA. I'm sure I read the other day the FAA were refunding anyone who registered their aircraft. The only benefits I could see for registering are if you lose your spark and someone finds it you might have a greater chance of recovery.. and you become another statistic for the government.

The FAA rule has been over turned. You DO NOT need to register it. As a matter a fact the FAA is currently refunding hobbyist money ($5) back to those that DID register it.

In the USA the only time you need to register is if your drone is over .55lbs (rather sure that is the weight) Or if you plan to profit from the pictures/videos you take with it. If that is the case you need to pursue getting your "part 107" cert from the FAA.

I can not speak to other countries rules.

Keep your craft below 400 feet and out of No Fly zones and you will be in good shape. Fly safe!

Different European countries have different rules. Rules for beaches, national parks and other places of interest. Taking mine to Lanzarote next month. Was going to take my P4P to Cyprus not so long back but binned the idea seen as the area where we stayed in has a lot of military presence. Was gutted due to the colour of the water and beautiful coastline.

In Europe ( CE countries at least) the norms are very similar with little differences. At the end of 2017 we will have a common regulation. if you are planning to travel to the eastern countries of Europe ( Czech Republic, Romania,Bulgaria,Rusia etc...) the legislation its more restrictive...and you should check every country.
Try to apply the same FAA rules about don't fly over people, cities, at night, stay in your VLOS...etc  is called common sense :-)
Remember that your Spark in Europe will be highly restricted in power, so you'll haven't the same range than in the US...

Don't waste time registering your drone in U.S for hobbyist use. You're actually wasting tax payers money by registering. FAA is actually deleting the prior registered database.

In Cyprus the EU norms applies  on the south, the north of the island is under Turkish rules not European. If you are planning to fly in Lanzarote be aware that a big extension of the island is considered national park...so you can't fly there...the fines are Hugh.
