Just having a debate with a coworker about whether to add the 2nd battery compartment to the Matrice-100. Currently we operate one matrice with 1 battery and one matrice with 2 batteries. We haven't done a stripped down, side by side test of the two to see the pros and cons of each. We are discussing the weight/flight benefits of having the extra battery.

In a windy situation would the extra battery power counter the extra weight with the 2nd battery. Or is it better to just utilize the 1 battery so the motors have enough power to push through windy situations. Currently using this setup for surveying so flight time is obviously a major concern.

Wondering if anyone has any insights on this topic.

The Matrice 100 can handle easily horizontal positioning, wether it's with one battery or two. The problem is vertical positioning. With gusts of wind we see variations of 2 m, which can be quite scaring. But it does mnot depend wehter you have one battery or two. Two batteries have more inertance, therefore the flight is more stable.
