I received my " refurbished " drone back from DJI. After I installed the last update on my brand new drone I sent in, I lost dang near all range. I am very hesitant to update this one. The update it wants to update me to is 1.9.20 . Is this the latest? It seems like a familiar number that may have deleted the range on my drone? Thoughts? What FW is everyone on? This is for the 3 standard.

My current FW is 1.1.30+ .  I would have thought they would at least check and update before they sent it to me since it had been on the shelf for so long.

1.9.2 is current for P3S

Isnt this the FW that is causing lots to lose their range?

Just updated and now it wont let me fly above 98 feet and about the same away from me. Im not a happy camper.

You have to log in. It'l work.

ok, logged in again, shut everything down and powered back up a few times. Didnt work.

Max alt is 98 feet and max distance is 160 feet still. It logs the flights in the apps as well. Shows that at 2 pm I was able to fly to 398 feet H and 1008 feet D. Now after update, nothing past beginner mode. The speeds are normal up to the new maxs'.

Just tried my cellphone instead of my tablet and it seems to work fine. Must be an out of date app on the tablet? I'll delete and re download.

Its ridiculous that every time there is a update everyone is crossing there fingers

I am curious on which cellphone and which tablet you used. I (sort of) have range issues with my iPad mini. Lucky if I can get further than 400m at any given time. Same area, same setup, same flight with android cell phone and I can get well past 1000m. Any area, any time I can duplicate these results. Android cellphone gives me twice the range. Given that the mobile app, regardless of what platform, does not control the range, these results make absolutely no sense.

Strange? Was it working ok on both before you updated to latest FW? Iphone and Samsung A7 tablet.

Is it absolutely necessary to update every time a new FW comes out. I'm  currently getting 4700ft. with my P3s and a stock antenna with version 1.8.10. Keep getting messages from DJI saying I need to update to 1.9.20 and I'm  scared to death its going to be a train wreak. I'm thinking maybe I should just keep ignoring the message to update as long as everything is going so well. Can hardly wait to put a range extender antenna on it and see what that does.

Hi there, I have make the same mistake.
Brand new Phantom 3SE - first flight no problem with range, communication ect.
When I back home my app DJI Go start screaming you need an update up to 1.9.20 and problems began.
First flight after update - disaster, no downlink video connection, remote control loosing signal after ten meters.
Before update all was fine, the question is why the DJI Go app did not suggest me to make a present firmware backup
Actually after 2 weeks fight with firmware finally I have stuck on P3C_FW_V01.07.0090.bin this one works for me almost the same as before I start that update.
Downgrade firmware helps me to not loose the faith in DJI.

After upgrading to latest firmware(1.9.2) you must log out to DJI and then back in to DJI or you will be limited in altitude and distance. When you update, leave ac and tx alone and cooled via fan etc. It will stop for extended periods during the update. Leave it alone until you get an update done notice on app. It can take up to 30 minutes. Make sure the update is done on a good wifi signal without interference and movement of the ac and tx.
That said, if the aircraft flies well, dont upgrade the firmware. Its not mandatory.

Did a small test with my P3 Standard.
First with Go App and it RTH after 672m .
With Litchi it RTH at 1642m same attitude same fly path. Just landed and changed battery and App.
Have not tested with 1.05.70. It is now on 1.08.10. Have downgraded from 1.09.0200FW.
When it was new it came with FW 1.02.040, and 1200 - 1400m was no problem with Go App.
As I see this, new FW and you loose new Go App and you loose. Is it worth it?
