I've just recieved my Spark this morning and I'm reading/watching conflicting information about compass calibration. Having previously flown a Phantom 3 I calibrated the compass before each flight, is this necessary for the Spark? Or only just when it says you need to calibrate.

Calibrate it ones before your first flight. After this only when the App/Drone says it needs to be recalibrated.

I "typically" only do a CC when I'm prompted to.   I say typically, cause if I notice any of my drones are starting to drift, I'll do a CC, whether its my Inspire, Mavic Pro, Phantom 4.

My Spark did prompt me the other day.  Did the CC and all is good...

You don't need to calibrate your compass unless prompted, not first time you fly not 50th time you fly only when your prompted.

So if you get a warning of interference this does not require you to calibrate in fact quite the opposite, just move your AC away from interference.

Your manual is very clear on this, and it's the same in inspire, phantom , Mavic, etc.

Awesome! Thanks for the clarification. I was just so used to doing the DJI dance each time I flew the Phantom and especially if I flew in a new location, nice not to have to think about it until it prompts me. I must admit I'm a bit scared about flying the Spark since reading a lot of the comments here, hopefully it will get it's first flight this afternoon. Thanks.
