i have poor range <100m both connecting via wifi to rc and connecting via OTG to the rc, with phone in aero mode
connected via otg image transmission is still very laggy and drops out completely at about 50m
very disappointed so far, any tips what im doing wrong? many others have said the otg sorted out both lag and range, but ive seen no improvement. its worse if anything

I'm patiently waiting for an update that will hopefully fix these issues. I took my spark out for a run yesterday and had it about 3m off the ground about 100m away from me on a big field. The video started to lag terribly. I was on the 5.8ghz band, using iphone 6s with OTG cable.

I heard using 2.4Ghz will improve the connection greatly. However you have to set it up before every flight.

Mine appears to default  to 2.4 with the otg cable plugged in and 5.8 default without the cable
I hope these issues are sorted soon, but I don't understand why some are having success with otg and some aren't...
I get that other things can interfere with it and it depends where you fly, but 50m is awful

Can I ask, if you had your iPhone in airplane mode and bluetooth disabled pre flight as well? You were able to manually set the home point before take off? You were able to calibrate compass, etc? I am just asking as I have not experienced any issue with remote flight wi-fi with iPhone 7 plus those far, but getting afraid to fly over water and I live on the water.

By any chance are you flying in an area with a lot of Wifi networks? Such as a neighborhood or a dense office district? I have noticed that my connection issues seem to happen mostly when I am flying at low altitudes , in areas that are dense with wifi networks.

Yes, i fly in airplane mode all the time.  I have not calibrated the compass on this flight, but i did calibrate it about 5 flights back.  The home point was updated automatically and i did not set it. It was in a park , i did not do a wifi survey so i cannot tell how many wifi aps there are but i would assume not many in the park.  I too am afraid of flying over water , therefore i am first testing my range over land.

That's so strange.  I'm slowly pushing mine out farther and farther 2200 ft (670m) and video looks great.

how high are you flying?  I was 100M away at about 3 meters high

I was around 400 feet (121m).

I'm having same problem on iPad mini 4

Understood, I assume, you had bluetooth turned off on your phone as well. I am concerned to fly mine now as well over water and I have not yet experienced any serious issues in 16 flights.  I have had issues with it in gesture mode though, where it reacted strangely and scraped a painting indoors, but there was no damage to the painting or AC. I know there is a beta out there now for the RC that helps with connection issues like yours. I am sure they will let you test the beta if you give an admin your DJI account. I hope this all gets sorted out soon, so we can all enjoy our Spark's. I love mine, I just don't want to lose it in the Atlantic Ocean here in Florida, I am surrounded by water and live 100 feet from the inlet to the ocean. I will say, my furthest flight I have done was over the water and I went 2,900 feet before I turned around, I did not lose signal, but for 1-2 seconds twice during that flight. It would have gone further, but I did not risk it. Good luck and best.

Best range you will get at ~120m alt. It is even in DJI tutorials if I remeber correctly.
