Just a practical question to prevent my Mavic to crash. (I don't want to)
I want to fly around a building, say 200 meters high.
But I want to fly around it at about 50 meter high.
What will my Mavic do when it's behind this building?
Will it crash or will it continue to fly in a traight way?
And
When I fly a waypoint mission, what will happen then?

Thanks in advance for helping me.

When you say, "fly around a building"...are you wanting to fly 360 degrees around the building?

Yes, so My mavic will be 100% out of sight for 5-10 sec.

Yeah, for some reason I don't see this ending very well for many reasons.  Not knowing how close you are to the building/structure is one concern.

Leaving the legal aspect aside (you shouldn't fly beyond VLOS) it depends on the size of the building. If only a small tower, the connection might hold up and you would be able to steer and have video without problems. If it's a larger building the connection might be lost. If so, after 3 seconds the AC will act as you told it to in the settings: hover, land or return to home.

Not sure about the waypoint mission as I've not yet tried this feature.

I think the key is that the OP wants to fly at an altitude of only 50 meters around a structure that is 200 meters high.  I guess that if the subject structure is in the middle of nowhere, than his chances of success are higher.

He can accomplish this with a waypoint flight using Litchi.

I'm using Litchi.
If I understand you well, can i make a mission that will circle the building (a water tower) at a hight of 50 meters?
When my bird looses contact it will continu its path? Right?

Ah, now its clear.  For some reason I envisioned you want to circle around a 200 foot building in a metropolitan area.

You should use the Point of interest mode and you'll be fine.

That's a very good idea.
Will it complete the "mission" even when the Mavic is behind the building?

Hey Paul, can you let us know how it worked out ? I'd be interested to know how the AC responded.

this is really cool to learn! i just got the mavic so there's still alot to figure out. please report on if it worked or not! the litchi website is not very clear, but i assume it's a way to program a pre-patterned flight path?

It seems like you can do thi inside the DJIGO app as well? or am i wrong?

I also think it's a good thing to set my RTH altitude @above the height of the building, don't you think?I will google for the exact height.

Please check this video, is a lower tower, I don't think it will block your remote signal.

DJI Mavic Pro / Point of Interest (Tutorial)

Nice ! I thought the RTH is automatically recorded upon take off? Is it necessary to set it manually before every flight?

I've seen this, but there's one difference in my questioning this.
The Mavic is above the tower not half way the height of the tower.
Also the transmitters waves can go under the tower structure (tubes)

Litchi spiraling buildings with waypoints & POI.  P3 Standard 2 miles out, no RC contact.

BINGO. That's what I'm looking for.
Thank you very much.
Now I can go fly with (a bit more) confidence. Still will be nervous though

Yes it's automatically recorded upon take off (if there are enough sats)
A nice lady will tell you if it's done.
You can adjust the height in the app (default = 30mtr)

It sure will. I use it all the time. Go up, center, move out, descend. Execute.

Are you sure POI will work with LOS (loss of signal)?  I would think it would RTH after 3 sec and end the POI.  I think waypoint will do better, in that it doesn't care if signal is lost (per what others are saying, but I haven't used it).

Wouldn't this be easy to test by going to a large open field, setting up waypoints around the field, sending the drone off and then folding up the antenna or covering them to simulate loss of signal?
If the drone continues it's waypoint mission then you have your answer. If it stops and returns back, that's your answer.
Would this scenario work as a test?

If it's a Litchi waypoint mission there is no need to test.  Once the mission is loaded & engaged you can turn off the RC & the mission completes.  You can even program it to land itself at the last waypoint.

I trust Litchi completely, so i will give it a go as soon as the weather lets me.
I also think marklyn59 came with a very good idea.

Main mission settings > Finish Action: Land

(This is in the App.  Not sure if you see it in the Mission Hub?)

Could it be that you have the IOS version of Litchi app, because i can't find the "Land" option in my Android version (or Mission hub)
Sorry, found it
