Thanks in advance for all your help, guys.
I'm a complete newbie lining up to purchase first real drone and have settled on the Phantom 2 (V3).
However, i cannot decide between standard Vision+ model, or go for the GoPro version with H4-3D / H3-3D and FPV screen etc.
Is the GoPro worth it? Is H4-3D worth the extra?
Aside from the extra expense, I'm concerned about the seemingly additional work to set-up the GoPro version properly (balancing/aligning the gimbal, ensuring no jelly effect etc.).
Thanks again for all the great advice to us "know-nothings"

yeah right im in the same boat as you i am personally thinking im going to get the vison + as i dont need a camera for anything else.I have compared the difference in camera quality on youtube and really they both are great. I guess it depends on what you are going to use it for if you want the best i would get a gopro 4

Yeah, camera for other use isn't really a need. Would be handy to try when diving/snorkelling, or attach it to the dog. But guess thast novelty would wear off soon.
Its really the cost of additional picture quality vs ease of set-up & use etc.

It seems ...

Gopro gets better video and pics.

I will have to get FPV (First Person View  ) to make it easier to get good video and Pic's.

Guy ...

What other equipment do I need to connect the ISOD mini to my vision +?

Would it not work as is connected to the Hub?

Guy

I have no idea.  It says it will work with the Phantom 2 vision + but needs something else to connect to.

Not a Vision expert (actually not an expert at all) but am pretty sure if you already have NTSC or ...

Well, I'll do a little more research on it.  Since Wyndham gave me $50 credit on the account.  might as well use it.  I wanted the Poets corner and not the money, more fun for all of us in the slow times, but I guess that won't work.

I don't know about the Vision + camera. I have the Go Pro 3+ on mine. I like the applications that are available with the GoPro for all kinds of editing you can do with your videos. Also, the Go Pro has a wide range of modes it will operate in, depending on the model.

well if you are into photography the vision shoots raw. The go pro does not. That was what made the decision for me. If I get not filming then I might buy a go pro as well.

Yes I thought I was getting 50 Waypoints (Now can't remember what is required to get 50).

Guy

WKM and A2 support 50 waypoints...us normal folks only get 16.

I'd say you're question depends on what you want out of the footage you shoot. I have two Phantom 2's with the Zenmuse/GoPro set up. I do editing and film production for a living so I wanted the absolute best video quality I could get with a Phantom 2. So I went with the Hero 4/Zenmuse Gimbal. Having the higher bit rate "Protune" setting that the Hero 4 and 3+ offers is an absolute must for me.

Here are some color and grading studies with the Hero 4, H3-3D and Phantom 2 V2

I've found that either way you go, Phantom 2/GoPro Hero or Phantom V+ there will be a learning curve in regard to obtaining what you consider acceptable and "good looking footage". To the best of my knowledge one of the two isn't necessarily the "easy" way vs the other. That said I don't think you can loose on either choice.

And yes there certainly is an advantage of having a small very mobile 4K camera you can do other things with.

So I do have the Phantom 2V+. Overall, better video and photo quality? GoPro version. Easier and much more handy? Vision+. Look for some videos online if you feel that its worth it then go for the Gopro version, but, If you're satisfied with the vision camera quality then go for it.

For me as a purely recreational flyer and amateur photographer the Vision + made more sense.
No messing about fitting any extra equipment, full camera control from the vision app, and a clean looking aircraft with no wires or bits dangling off it...
However, Vision or not, the Phantom 2 is a very impressive aircraft.
