I'm from Spain, I use to connect with OTG cable but then I don't have WiFi data in the application, (it is a bug).

I neither able to connect to the RC or spark on 5.4ghz I can not see the network on my Samsung A5 or Samsung note 4.

In 5.4gz mode with the RC the fastest range it is 350m ... If you want to connect the remote with the spark in 2.4 then you have to connect to the remote in 2.4ghz (without OTG) then change the frequency of the remote and the spark, and then reconnect with the remote with OTG because in 5.4ghz doesn't work.

Do everybody have this problem?

You can switch from 5 GHz to 2.4 if you connect the mobile with WiFi, but then you are force to reconnect to the RC by OTG then you can not change anything else because you lose the interface.

It is a clear bug, but not able to connect on 5ghz it is a big issue for European users, the other one is the PAL record.

This evening I make a test with 2.4 GHz and OTG, it reach farer than with 5 GHz but when I replaced the battery it reseted to 5.ghz again.

So European people is limited to 200-300 meters and 120 m height (with lots of problems). This is not reliable 500 meters (legal limit in Spain and the range of the manual)

The probability of have a fly-away episode is too risky. I have had 4 episodes of RTH automatically due to signal lost and the drone was less than 300 meters far away., Even 100 meters far away happened to me.

Any suggestions?

@SuperCurro

I fly with RC/IPad 4 Mini / OTG and have never any issues, but always use 2.4 Ghz (longer range) The limit for 5.8 GHz is approx 250-300 meters. With 2.4GHz reach 800 meters without any problems.

I have sometimes same problem, that I'm unable to select. But seems the sequence of starting Ipad/RC.  In general the swap from 5.8 to 2.4 takes 10 seconds..

In android never works the WiFi screen with the OTG cable.

And some of the Android devices do not support 5.8GHz, thus these devices can not connect to the drone when it is on 5.8GHz. Besides, the connection between the Spark RC and the mobile device via OTG cable has not been fully tested, so I would suggest that you use it with caution.

We are talking about the latest samsung mobiles, all them with 5Ghz WiFi and none of them works with Spark in Europe, so we are force to use 2.4Ghz with RC and the RC-Spark in 5Ghz frecuency or the alternative is RCSpark 2.4Ghz and the OTG cable (that works better than wifi and you dont have disconections)

As far as I know the RC has to radios one 2.4 and the other 5 Ghz, if use one for the mobile then the other for the Spark. So if you want to fly far away of 200-300 meters you have to switch to RC-Spark 2.4Ghz, then the mobile doesnt connect by wifi 5Ghz with the RC and you need the OTG Cable.

The connection in 5Ghz for EUROPE should be a priority (the other one is PAL recording 25fps). Please check it.

thanks

I just mange to fly 800 meters in open area.
If you fly in sport mode the range os only about 300 meter.
I have the best results in 2.4 ghz. No sport mode and no otg cable.

I can not go wifi with Mobile-RC 5Ghz and RC-spark in 2.4Ghz, it seams in europe the 5-4 GHz wifi connection doesnt work with RC or Spark

U dont understand... 5.8ghz is connection between RC-Aircraft.same for 2.4ghz.

Mobile phone and RC have alway same connection (Wi-Fi standard).

But if u connection smartphone and Aircraf (no rc) only 2.4ghz Wi-Fi work.

Press 9 second button On Dji Spark for create a Wi-Fi 2.4ghz.
I believe it works or i wrong?

I don't understand that on Mavic, DJI approves of OTG method. Why don't you make it official on Spark considering wired connection is always more reliable than wireless.
Can you please forward this concern to DJI engineers?

Well I will explain in other way.

1 In Europe you cannot connect the phone by 5Ghz with the RC neither the Spark (at least with samsung and android)

2 The RC with the spark can work on 2.4 or 5Gz but then the wifi connection with the mobile will be in the other frecuency. (if you connect the RC with the Spark in 2.4Ghz then you have to connect the mobile with the RC in 5GHz).

3 So if you connect the RC with the spark in 2.4Ghz you have to do it with OTG Cable (in europe)

4 But with OTG cable the interface wifi of the DJI Go4 program on android doesnt work....

So I have had to press 9 seconds the battery button a lot of times... belive me.

European users are very lucky, we dont have PAL record 25 fps, (nor 24001/24000 cinematic mode) we dont have 5GHz frecuency, we dont have wifi interface with OTG... so the maximum range of our sprak  is around 250-350 meters...

Hi, I have an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S6) and an iPhone 6s. Both work with OTG both 5.8ghz and 2.4ghz. I live in Italy. On Samsung use 4.1.3 on iPhone 4.1.5.

Interesting...

Did you see my first post... the wifi screen is empty with OTG cable.

What version of android are you using?
I have samsung A5 with android 6.0.1
The DJIgo android app is updated 4.1.4 (this could be the problem and have lot of post saying that it crash and close).

For that test I used this cable : http://amzn.to/2vhfHrW (CE Range)

I used this adapter http://amzn.to/2wFNSJl and got around 10% less fistance, I don't know why it would be less, maybe because its another connection ?

5GHz differs from 5.8GHz, and you are living in Spain, Europe area, which the drone can not support 5.8GHz operating frequency.

Thanks

So European customers can not use 5 Ghz nor PAL?

I think DJI should think a bit about Europe and its frecuency regulation and video rules (5-4Ghz and PAL). We could be a 20-30% of your costumers...
