Well if it is not flying forwards it is bound to be less than the claimed speed. The sidecar thing was at about 30mph max. Try going downwind for your shot!

I really think it has something with how fast I take off in the boat too. I was reading the manual and the angle is less so that would decrease take off speed too.
Yes once you get going 'maybe,' but a jackrabbit start will usually lose the Mavic (or any sudden change in direction) whilst in ActiveTrack. It's rate of scanning or object recognition is slow when the object is fast (like pretty much everything we try this on).
The DJI Go V4.0.5 release notes states that the tracking speed has been improved to 15m/s
Thanks for correction. I have checked the data again, confirmed that the max track speed is 15m/s. When the track speed is more than 10m/s, the aircraft will adjust the speed to track. It is normal that the track speed maybe larger due to the accelerated speed sometimes.
so to get that 15m/s which is about 33 mph I should prob update my mavic? I wakeboard about 25 mph and if you think it will work, then I actually have a reason to update. if I don't update I will stay at 10m/s which is 22 mph. 10mph jump is worth it to me. letting the drone do the work while I drink a beer sounds great haha
