Ok fellers....I've had my stock VP3.0 for a few weeks now and I absolutely love almost everything about it.  I've had over 15 or so successful flights with no real issues.  It is so easy to fly compared to my Syma X1 I practiced on for a year.  On the last few flights, Ive started to test the distance limits, but before I can get to 1000 feet, the FVP freezes and I lose connection.   Once this happens, I quickly bring the bird back as it is hard to see and I don't want to fly blind.  I am a little dissapointed to say the least.  I was going to download the FVP app from itunes.  Does this app really work?
I really want to test the distance on the RC , but I'm too chicken to go out any further than the FVP feed.  I'm not one to tinker or mod, but I wouldn't be opposed to paying someone to mod my stuff.  Is this an option and how much to get let's say 2500 to 3000 ft range on FVP and control range?

thanks!

The FPV APP will only increase the camera range on the range extender.  It will not increase the flight control range.  I have gone 2250 feet control range so far and others have been 2900 feet + with stock equipment.

So, what the heck is wrong with my setup?  Sometimes at 700 feet I lose video?  I wonder if I have a lot of interference in my area that I'm flying?  It's kind of frustrating to say the least.  Thanks for your reply Gerry.

Does your transmitter beep once or twice when you power it on?

Twice...so it's in FCC mode.

By the way, I know that the control range has nothing to do with the FVP.   I haven't had any issues with control range yet, but with that being said, I haven't taken the bird further out than what FVP shows me.

Your range extender should be facing the Phantom with the flat top, clear line of sight, not behind trees or obstructions and the control antenna should be pointing 45 to 60 degrees to the side.  The strongest signal comes from the side.   I lose camera FPV and then control connection breaks within a few feet of each other.

I can tell you first hand that if your TX is not FULLY charged your FPV distance will decrease and depending on where and what you are flying over and at what height and what the weather is will affect it as well!
I can regularly fly out one direction 1500+' without issue and have gone as far as 2,709'..that said, my Tx was down to 20% last night and I could not get out past 700-800'...
Keep the Tx charged up and let us know afterwards.

My TX was 90% and I've kept it charged at least this much with all of my flights.

What about the range extender?  Fully charged?

So, does this FVP app really make a difference I've been hearing about?

So 45 to 60 degrees to the right or left?  I've had mine about 45 degrees to the right thus far.

From what we have heard here, it can extend it from a few hundred more feet to about double, depending on conditions of weather and such.  It is only for the camera FPV.

Have the side of your tx antenna facing the Phantom.

Ok, I bought the FPV app and it helped a lot, but I am still really disappointed.  My range was around 1180 feet before I lost FPV video.  I think I am going to want to mod my Tx.  Is there a place I can send it to that will mod it for me and how much?
