Is it worth trying to get a time lapse of the eclipse? Assuming I am in a decent location to see/record it, will the image/video come out given the brightness. I do plan to use the darkest filter possible. If possible, what picture settings would you use? Or Is it a waste of time? Any advice/comment is appreciated. Thanks in advance

I would think it's a waste of time. Purely because a drone shot of the eclipse is not going to give you any image or position which has anything different to offer from any other way of recording it. A time-lapse from an SLR on a tripod will give you pretty much the same POV as a drone 500m in the sky when looking at the moon.
