Hi DJI mods and everyone, apols if asked before but I am wondering if flying Sparks in Vietnam would put it into FCC or CE power mode? And how would we know which mode is currently enabled?
Thanks,

Minh

Yep. I checked. I got 13 channels and the thing is there is NO regulation or enforcement in place for Vietnam. I imported a 2000mW 2.4 video transmitter and nobody cares. Why would DJI forces us to follow rules of  the continents we arent even on? When I come to the EU and fly my drone there obviously I wont have any complaining but Vietnam really?

Hi, Sorry I don't get it that. If it is CE in Vietnam, then obviously, the range for Spark is 500m only.
Then, what is the different in 100mW and 200mW ? Because following the CE, the range will not increase anyway.

It's Fcc in the USA and Ce everywhere else in teh world. Even if that country allows FCC standards, DJI somehow just does the easy thing and just CE everywhere in the world other than USA. I've tested it by simulating different country codes and other than USA, they all end up with 13ch wifi so it's CE..only US has 11 ch FCC wifi

Then that does not make sense to me because there are youtube video of guys in Thailand got the 2000m distance (so obviously he was on FCC).
In VN there is no regulation, but because DJI does not know for sure, they just go with the safe side and apply CE for VN.I often got maximum distance ~300m only...

higher transmission power = further... But there is a posibility that because 200mW translate to 23dbm which is still lower than FCC's..
Anyway only DJI will know the criteria on how much power is transmited or how is the selection is done.

not following china's?  = SRRC

do bear in mind it is still depending on any interruptions.. Published details are based on unintterupted transmission. (if you fly around cities chances are it'll have interruptions.

Wide open field may have better result.

Different standards will be applied according to the corresponding area automatically. The range maybe different in variable environment.

Thanks for the link.
As I have researched on this matter, in Vietnam we do not follow FCC or CE, but have our own standard.
Then I just wonder which one that DJI apply on Vietnam. I doubt that they will apply CE to go on the safe side...

I think I have figured out the technical here. Can you guys please confirm.Basically the dBm and mW unit are interchangeable.so 200mW in VN means ~24dBM.and according to dji spec,26dBM can get around 2000m,so with 24dBM in Vietnam,i should get ~1800m.Is it correct?

Very simple check..just go to your 2.4hz wifi and see how many channels you have. CE is 13ch and FCC is 11. That will tell you which you are in. And in open areas, CE also can get up to 2km. In congested areas, FCC also can't go to 1km so it really varies on your location. Just because your country supports FCC doesn't mean DJI puts it in FCC mode. My country is also FCC according to the governing body, but the spark defaults to CE only. It's easier for DJI to write codes that is location is USA, set FCC, everywhere else, CE..instead of writing codes to determine each and every country and what band to use. Logical?

Do you mean to check it over the DJI App?

Even though? Any chance to change the mode?

CE in open area also can go 1.7km. FCC vs CE is just signal strength..the CE strength itself can reach 2km..FCC is just stronger.
I think the max distance isn't blocked by DJI other than in europe but the mode probably is. Just check your wifi channels in 2.4gz and see if you have 11 or 13 channels and you will know. As far as i know, i've asked Malaysia, Singapore,Thailand, Vietnam...all 13channels..so all CE

yes, the Dji Go 4 App. There's a page to change your wifi channels and settings..just need to see how many channels you have on the 2.4gz page.
And no, there's no way to change from  CE to FCC (officially). It's all based on your location and automatically set by the app.

Hi,
Just to inform that Vietnam is not CE. To my surprise, DJI confirmed to me they apply FCC to Vietnam. That actually what I expect because we do not follow FCC or CE in Vietnam, therefore, applying CE on us and reduce the range makes no sense

Lucky you! In Singapore although the government officially mentioned we are FCC approved, DJI still choses to limit us to CE with 13 channels only and a weaker signal

How did you manage to get 1.7 KM with the spark? Is it in FCC mode? i tried multiple times already and i was at most able to fly 300 meters max with 5.8ghz and it was always forcing me to CE mode..

Hello DJI! Get your facts right and not talk nonsense… Singapore is FCC and not CE; so why is DJI limiting to CE only??? Soon once customers know, nobody will buy your drones…
