Hey guys,
Before I have a *&^% fit with the lads at DJI I just wanted to check im not doing anything stupidly wrong.
I have done the new firmware update but as yet (due to weather) have not tested it. Although I dont see any notes in the upgrade about fixing my problem.
Firstly I have tried this with an OTG cable also but when i fly the spark (always line of sight and away from building ie beach) I cant get further than around 100meters. Infact i start getting video signal issues at about 50 meters and by the time i get to 100 or so meters I cant see any video. I still have remote control of the drone but the video feed is gone and |I am too nervous to push it further so i fly it back. Antenas are up and paralel aimed at the drone.
Here is my issue.....I see guys getting over 2000 meters with the spark.....I dont need anything like that for video work but i need to at least get a few hundred meters distance.
Forget about 2,000 m. In neighborhood, you cannot expect long distance. 100-300 m. is great BUT you'd better not fly there. Go to huge park or somewhere away from people and traffic. You will get great range.

I was flying on a very open beach far away from houses and suburbs

I would be totally happy with that. it would be perfect for my needs, but 50m video feed and 100meters no image at all is rough
I think, the LG G4 is not really doing a good job, with our spark!
And I know, I have one, too.
I had a 1km flight to the west, with video and everything, but 20m to the right, it went laggy , black, ......
With the LG G4.
Tryed the OP5 instead: worked
Also the LG G4 is very picky with OTG cable. Mine gets almost only connected with a old original Note 2 Data/Charger cabel
Was it looking like this?
btw, the aircraft responded to all commands, I only did not see anything on the G4!
I feel your pain as I get about 150m and then lose RC signal (iPhone connected to RC with an OTG cable) and the Spark then does a RTH. I've checked not in Beginner mode, enabled max distance to 5,000m and flown the drone in an open field). It's happened in both the UK and France.

S-e-ven, that recording is scary, losing the connection so many times ...
What application do you use to record the mobile screen?
But "only" the video connection. And that day, setup done in that corner
The RC-connection was fine, in the 10-20m distance.
I had no trust, to fly it any further.
I just could not get the LG work at that day with otg.
But the OP5 was fine, 5 minutes later and via otg (could not make that work without, that day)
As was the LG 2h later at a "far, far away" location in wifi-mode
I managed to fly yesterday to 500m with Wifi, i think it can go more, but i didnt dare as it was almost night. I had abit boxy video from start, maybe because of low light. In any case, tomorrow, i will try one advice which i tried with OTG and it worked, that is first, connect all devices with each other as normal. The press the power button for 3 sec till hear 1 beep. Relink RC with the fn+pause+C button. It should bring clear image.Edit: Typo
Are you able to use the RC to control the drone when the video feed is lost? Please try to fly the drone with other mobile devices, see if it is better.

You can try to adjust the antennas during the flight. See if it is better.
EXACTLY my issue 100%!!!! I've made an annoying amount of posts about the very same problem, in fact since the update i'm lucky if i even get past 50M without same video signal / latency problems. It's as you say incredibly frustrating and makes you fly with fear and caution rather than fun and excitement!!!! I've been flooding the boards with this issue for about 3 weeks with little to no replies.... There are some helpful users on here which is great but i've tried every resolve offered up with no resolve. I hoped the new update would answer my prayers but nope!!! Looking a lot like i will have to be sending my little buddy back to China!!!
I had the same problem after updating as well and i thought it was just my phone playing up or just something strange.
I havent flown it much since , but ill be trying it again soon and ill fill you guys in as i did the very latest update again last night , so im hoping that it improves the video feeds and distance im getting.
I have gotten 1200M (3600 feet) before I got significant video loss flying straight wifi with the remote over the water and near many houses and a lighthouse at near dusk. The signal was bouncy at that range, but popped back in and could go further but nervously came back in. I don't understand why you could only get 100M or less?? I am using an iPhone 7 plus.
Hello everybody,
I have the same issue usually I can fly to a distance of about 50 meters distance and it says connections errors but I can still fly until 100meters but its dangerous,
i have the otg cable but everywhere I read it says the new update you cant use the OTG cable anymore.
So was just wondering if the OTG cable is still usable.
