After 60 flights with my Spark......today I was willing to risk a little bit:
I launched on top of a look-out (metal) approx. 30meters from ground.

After 27s I got a Warning about compass interferences.

And because I am reading all your cases here in forum very carefully
and didn't want to loose my sparky, I quickly returned and landed (with a strong heartbeat).

Everything went good - lesson learned!
If there were compass-warnings before launch, I would never launch that thing!...

Here the logfile

Have safely flights!!

Good job , I've been trying to warn people regarding this happening for some time, your launch area is crucial and should always be clear of anything that might have adverse effect on your compass, and you have seen first hand that you may not see effect or warning until you are in the air. And this is why you should always check your drone from a low height i.e. 6 ft, to make sure it's properly ready for flight.

And maybe this is a textbook case of how a pilot should behave when they start seeing warnings.  Don't ignore, land safely, and keep your spark.  Or ignore, keep flying, risk losing or crashing your spark.

I flew 2 meter further and all went fine in gps. Is this still the falling spark bug? Everything has been updated to new fw

That has nothing to do with drop bug, you really should have turned off your Spark moved it from interference and taken off from a different location. It looks like you had small amount of interference and compass corrected itself, this will not always be the case if you have conflict between gps and compass you spark is likely to take of flying in a different direction than you want it to go, so I would say be careful, it's actually your responsibility to make sure you take off from suitable location.

The Tips messages is new. The "Auto compass calibration" is new. But the manual is old(v 1.4). It is stated nowhere in the release note. Perhaps DJI is trying something new to in-flight compass error recovery. That is good news. Let us see how good it works.

Bravo.

It seems so, height was restricted until Compass came right, this is very interesting, maybe manual will be updated soon to explain, or are we just beta testing.

I suspect DJI engineers and developers were the Beta Testers, we are now the "Live" testers.  Beta testers will never find all the bugs and errors.

Live testers is more correct, but this could be a very good move, just a pity dji don't explain exactly what they have done, I suppose it's included in safety issues.

If you take off with GPS weak ( "Compass error" some how affects the gps reception although it shows alot gps), your max altitude will be limited. But once it is resolved "Temp Max altitude is cancelled". Just my interpretation, because i did took off in Atti mode (which later switched to Opti and flew damned stable ), it limited to like 6m. I presume so it keeps it within the VPS sensor range.
Edit: Flew inside a huge hall to have a feel of manual control.

Whoa, metal interferes the compass! Good to know that you could safely control the drone. Please don't take off if there is a compass error, calibrate the compass or try another place if you get the compass error message. And we really hope that users fly the drone in a wide place with less interference.
