Android, works very well on OP5
Did not work on LG4.
Check another USB OTG cabel to Phone combination.
I used in the beginning a USB OTG in RC and a USB A to Micro USB with USB C Adapter for the OP5
Now I use a micro USB to USB C Cabel, ebay, from china

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and I'm trying with the OTG I bought from DJI for the goggles and I'm using the USB charging cable from my phone...maybe that's the problem?

I have "played' a bit around with charger/data cables. Have a lot of them.
Funny story: I used in the end short cables from 2 powerbanks.
Try another cable, yes, the charger (still a data cable, right?) cable can be the problem.
Try the charger cable from DJI. Its a data cable, too.
But check on shorter ones, anyway

Ok I'll try with different cables, yes the charger cable from my phone is a data cable...thanks a lot S-e-ven

Can't use OTG with IOS now, the DJI Go 4 app has preset limited flight and distance settings. Not sure if you can fly past these, but I am using wireless now.

Today i was first time using otg micro usb to micro usb on android(Sony Z3 Compact) . Im very impresed how delay is shorten. Also and image transfer had no glitches or freeze moments. Also got not one disconnect or image transfer disconnect. Before when i was using wifi in airplane mode (and normal). Video delay was about 3 sec. Now with otg i think its less than half of second. Real time video transfer.

It doesn't always connect well.  I thought DJI might have crippled it.

I’m in Australia and when I was flying my Spark with my Google Pixel phone, I always used the OTG...I’ve changed to an IPad now and wifi works just fine, with no need for the OTG...with the IPad I find the OTG has limitations.ie, RTH height restrictions and distance restrictions, yet when using the iPad on wifi it works beautifully with no restrictions... DJI Go4 is designed for Apple....do yourself a favour and if you can, use Apple to fly your Spark, it’s much better

The last time I used otg I almost lost the drone, on wifi works great.
Won't be looking back till it is confirmed to work and only because it saves some battery life.

What about people who bought a Crystalsky?
DJI should make it work perfectly for his own devices first to protect it's customers investments.
This is a terrible way of taking care of returning customers.

OTG is the only way I have flown. Haven't had any issues with it.

Make sure you occasionally connect via WiFi.

OTG will not update the firmware on the RC unit. It only updates via a WiFi connection.

By using OTG  which is not officially supported by DJI, are we voiding our warranty in the event of a crash ?

What makes you think this. OTG is official supported by DjI.

Number 1 they sell a OTG connector cable for the Spark.
Number 2 they sell a CrystalSky mount for Spark that includes a cable to be connected via their OTG cable and it is documented in their manual.

DJI support OTG connections to the Spark.

Cheers

Tested once more today with .600 FW and 5.8Ghz in CE mode (an open field @100m height, BT off):
- Wifi: about 250m range
- OTG: About 450m

Hmmm,

Can you hear click ticking in a quiet room?
Can you hear the same click ticking if their was a rock concert going on next door?

It all about plain noise. The more noise generated around the RC unit the more difficult it is for its receiver to pick up the signal coming from the drone.

Remember the further away the weaker the Rx signal but the noise stays the same.

You should turn off wifi and blue tooth on the phone and turn off your apple watch if you have one.

Diablo, here you go. OTG is not recommended as it will void the warranty.

Elektra,

Why does DJI sell OTG and cable connection devices for the Spark?

Why does the manual for the Spark Crystal Sky advise you to connect via the DJI OTG cable you sell?

Can you actually confirm your statement please.

Your statement that it will invalidate your warranty, given the fact your manuals advise its use is in breach of Australian Consumer Law.

I assume you misspoke.

OTG is limited to 50m high and 100m distance

Only on the version 11 of IOS. It is not restricted on Android.

DJI need to fix IOS 11 compatibility.

The issue is that the updated flight zones do not load on the IOS version. Thus creating the restriction.

I had been happily using OTG with my S6 Edge, since WiFi at the time wouldn't let me use the map (and the range seemed improved). Just upgraded to a Pixel 2 and replaced the OTG cable with a USB-C adapter and nothing. However, since the offline maps seem to have been fixed, it's less of an issue (though firmware upgrades are a total arse ache this way). Haven't tried flying at any real distance with the Pixel yet; the wifi interference issues I'd had on the S6 make me nervous.

I would like to have the otg enabled again with all the features as per previous version. Provides more stable video feed with no signal lost during flights as compared to wifi

The micro USB to Female USB should be connected to the RC, and the Male USB to Micro USB should be connected to the phone, with that said the new Dji Go 4 version having issues with the OTG till further notice, mean while use wifi or downgrade the software
